I used to live across the street from the Swansea Mews housing project at Windermere and The Queensway, about two minutes' walk from the southwest corner of High Park/ Grenadier Pond. The local gangsta teens used to fire guns every so often, but I don't think they ever hit whatever or whomever they were shooting at.
There's a streetcar stop at that corner on a platform with a short fence. Late at night, it was not uncommon for people to race cars from around Parkview to Windermere or beyond; it's a fairly long stretch between traffic lights. More than once, somebody hit the platform of the streetcar stop and flipped their car. I could hear it when it happened. One time I went out to take a look; about six cops were there, standing while writing notes, meanwhile a guy inside an overturned SUV was screaming in pain. The paramedics had not yet arrived.
