Okay and now suppose you let the guy up and he pulls the knife he had out of his back pocket. See most people will not pull it initially in a fist fight, but after theyve basically lost, feel ashamed and are overcome with rage and emotions they are very quick to take things up a notch. There is a reason you fight to finish. That way when you get up you dont have to worry about the guy taking it to the next level. I agree there is no honour in beating on a guy if it is a fair fight, for example in a boxing/ufc ring and the guy has tapped out, but when fighting on the street it is not a fair fight. By this I mean there are no rules, noone to enforce these rules, and the only way you could determine fairness is by saying they were using equal force. Street fights are never fair. The only way to ensure you will be safe in a "street fight" is to temporarily incapacitate your opponent giving you time to get away. I have a buddy who was stabbed in a fight in that exact scenario. He chose to let the guy up after giving him a good ass whoopin' and caught a 3 inch blade through his nutsack. Noone else even seen the knife until it came back up in the air to come down again. Luckily people stepped in and were able to wrestle the knife away. I learned one thing from that, the fight is over when you can walk away, unharmed. Anyways not trying to argue, just my thoughts on the situation.
