I'm surprised Edinburgh Scotland wasn't there..certainly one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. A really neat link though. Some of the more exotic places ( Thailand, Bora Bora etc... ) are stunning...

Frescoes count as a place of beauty? The Met would win hands down just for its collection of alter pieces.

The urge to visit and put our footprint on beautiful and exotic locations has grown stronger in the last few decades.
Jet planes are huge polluters, the need for hotels close to these places are also destroying the planet.

I'll settle for a video or book about the place, thanks.

I have been to 27 of them.
Those places are certainly worth seeing, but they are other places just as or more beautiful in the world. It is a matter of preference and interpretation.

This list seems to me to be more about spectacle than beauty. Sure, sometimes spectacles can be beautiful, but so can simplicity and serenity (e.g., the Ryoan-ji garden).

I suppose it's all "the eye of the beholder." I think the Petronas Towers are hideous.
