So true. A bigger is concern is whether these large 1TB and 1.5TB actually work. I remember there were a lot of complaints on this Board when the 1TB hit the market. Have all the bugs been ironed out now? This happens with all HDDs. You never have all the space it's rated at. There is always some loss
Kinda like buying a new car and not getting the same mileage as the guy in the commercial, right? This happens with all HDDs. You never have all the space it's rated at. There is always some loss and the bigger the drive the bigger the loss due to the way the drive is setup and the file system used.
Oh they work. The problem is they had a failure rate noticeably higher than drives < 1TB. Not sure if this has been resolved but I do keep an eye on my 1TB drive and make sure it is backed up, just in case.So true. A bigger is concern is whether these large 1TB and 1.5TB actually work.
This is small comfort. They work except when they don't. Anyway, good luck with your 1TB.Oh they work. The problem is they had a failure rate noticeably higher than drives < 1TB. Not sure if this has been resolved but I do keep an eye on my 1TB drive and make sure it is backed up, just in case.
You could sue them - worked once...http://apcmag.com/seagate_settles_class_action_cash_back_over_misleading_hard_drive_capacities.htmSecondly, LaCie quote their drive space as 1Tb = 1000 Gb, 1 Gb = 1,000,000,000 bytes
Your OS will report the space as 1Tb = 1024 Gb, 1 Gb = 1, 073,741,824 bytes
As the disk size increases, so does the discrepancy
