I have a question.
When you go to a food bank do you have to prove you are "poor/ in need" for a lack of a better word.
Honestly, can anyone just show up and ask for food?

I think people need to apply before using a food bank; they can't just walk in and browse.

I live in Cabbagetown, and I get free prepared meals all the time, from various different places within a few minutes' walk, at specific times, on specific days. Anyone can get those, if they stand in line.

Many churches have a free community meal once a week.

There is no hardship proof required. Only verbal if there are any questions at all. The abuse is rampant and everybody knows it.
Many years ago, a woman that worked at a place where a friend worked was pointed out to me, she was getting food at a food bank even though she and her SO had jobs. The food bank even gave them taxi vouchers to cart the food home. I did not know her at all and do not know if they owned a car. I suspect that they were not in need but was merely getting other things for their comfort from the money they saved not buying food.

I have a question.

According to news reports there are fewer people giving food, so there is less to give out. The food bank give priority to the elderly, pregnant and single mothers. Even in these hard times, I do not think they turn anyone away.

Pretty sad. That is up over 50% from prior year.
Now you have to ask yourself the question - has my gov't been lying to us about inflation? Because these numbers seem to suggest its much higher than the 3 to 4 percent they are reporting.

Dude please go and volunteer at a food bank.
1. Many food banks do in fact require that you have an account. And they check that you aren’t visiting multiple places in a short span of time.

2. Please tell us about the abuse you seen while working a food bank. Mayne provide some numbers to support your “rampant” claim.

3. While NOT spoiled or expired some of the donated food can be in the older side. Most people would never use a food bank unless they absolutely need one.

The way they present inflation numbers is completely inaccurate.
A current percentage number doesn’t account for the 18 previous months with extremely higher numbers that have added up to the current prices which, even if the current month’s percentage drops, will never go down again.
When you print $600B new currency units quickly under the smokescreen of a big ass scam like Covid….this is the result.
Those who understand economics knew this was coming the moment the gov did this.

You'd be a fool to think that people aren't abusing the food banks. There are largely no check on need (i.e. proof of income). Is it rampant, perhaps? Nobody has done the study.
