Hello Gentlemen,
It's Asian Nicole. I was so delightful to accompany my darling Opera Professor to see a lovely concert - "Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto & Pathetique" on Wednesday night at Roy Thomson Hall, Downtown, Toronto.
Tchaikovsky’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 1 is music you’ll know from the very first note, and it promises to bring down the house when performed by the remarkable Sergei Babayan. The music of Swedish composer Andrea Tarrodi invites us into the colourful world of birds of paradise. Tchaikovsky confessed that he had put “his whole soul” into his final symphony, and for the listener, it’s an enthralling experience that awakens us to a universe of emotion.
The pianist Sergei Babayan is an Armenian-American pianist. Described by Le Devoir as a "genius". Babayan won many international competitions, including the Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition in 1989 and the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 1991. On Wednesday night, his performance was fantastic! Hailed for his emotional intensity, bold energy and remarkable levels of color. Sergei Babayan brings a deep understanding and insight to an exceptionally diverse repertoire.
Dalia Stasevska is a Finnish conductor. She is currently the principal guest conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and chief conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. On Wednesday night, she leads this poignant masterpiece, known for its haunting ending that fades to black. She is truly amazing!
BRAVO!!! Thanks so much for taking me to see the fabulous concert, my darling Opera Professor! I really enjoyed it!
Tchaikovsky - Piano Concerto 1 (B Flat Minor)
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 "Pathétique"
