Hello Gentlemen,
Today is the Civic Holiday. It is a public holiday in Canada celebrated on the first Monday in August. The word civic is in reference to municipalities (such as cities, towns, etc.).
Most people simply associate it with having an extra day away from the office. And although that alone could be enough of a reason to celebrate, the true meaning behind the holiday is to honour John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant Governor of Ontario (then known as Upper Canada).
I am so proud of Toronto, and I am so grateful that I live in such a beautiful and culturally diverse city.
Here is my Civic Holiday celebration: Yummy!
