By points percentage Detroit is last in the Atlantic.
There are 4 teams in the East lower than Detroit and 7 in the West including 5 in the Pacific.

Good. I hope the Red Wings stay bad. Ken Holland screwed the franchise by overstaying his time. If he simply let Yzerman take over in the early 2010s, the scouting staff would’ve stayed and likely drafted the same gems that they did for Tampa in this timeline.

Well, Detroit just beat Florida. That makes Leafs now last in the Atlantic. Detroit has a lower win rate but a higher points percentage.
I suppose this win helped the Leafs. It was in regulation and Florida is one of the teams Leafs need to catch.
Detroit has 6 wins and 2 regulation losses in their last 10 games.
Buffalo is the only team with a negative goals differential in the Division yet they are sitting 4th by pts %.
Buffalo also has a 50% win rate 7 wins in 14 games.

One difference, at least to me, is that the Leafs have finished two of the tougher west trips already. Let's see how they do with a bunch of home games, or do they waste them?

I wouldn't consider their last road trip a tough one. They played Calgary and Vancouver who are below them so at worst it was even not tough. Sure, they're at home now but they're playing some tough teams. None of them are below them. Utah is the weakest of the group and they are 9 wins in 15 games. Montreal has won 5 straight without Suzuki and 8 of their last 10. NJ is 9 wins in 14 games and they just got Hellebuyk, Edmonton is 2nd best record right now and Minny is 4th, with NJ 7th. Montreal is 5th. Leafs though play well against good teams. They've beaten Edmonton and Colorado already.

Their biggest game is against Montreal. They haven't beaten a Division rival yet this season. All 1 goal losses by Bobrovsky. All 3 of the Division Rival losses were at home so they wasted those already. That more than anything is the reason they are last in the Division. Edmonton has the best road record this season 7-0-0 and Montreal is 3rd 5-1-1

Leafs home and away record this season:
Home 4-3-1 -1 goal differential
Away 4-3-1 +9 goal differential

In the real world the Leafs do not have a winning record.
8-6-2
Remember folks there's no ties and 2 loss columns.

16 games played 8 wins 8 losses

.500

That's why I like the NHL to go with 3 pts for regulation wins; it separates the winning teams from the non-winning teams.

They should but it won't happen. At least until Bettman leaves. 3 pt games makes for tighter playoff races where more teams appear to still be in it. Leafs are currently last in the Atlantic by points percentage. They're also at .500 win rate. The average points per game is 2.27 so the average point per team is 1.135 per game.

For those who like to compare McKenna to Marner here's something Marner has never done. Throw a punch.

The balls to throw a guy like Marner under the bus for never throwing a punch.
You know who else has never thrown a punch, who happens to be a bigger, stronger player?

Utah is a very fast team. Similar to Montreal excellent in the offensive zone applying pressure. Under the circumstances give Leafs some credit they played a good 3rd period to tie it at 2. Bad penalty to lose it on considering the Utah power play is deadly. Probably the reason why they didn't challenge the second goal. Can't blame this one on Bobrovsky even though he gave up 3 goals. Didn't have a chance on any of them.

I'm a fan of the Utah team. Very good young players like Keller, Guenther and Cooley. I liked the free agent signing of Trocheck. Solid blueline led by Sergachev and Weegar. Goaltending is a bit iffy but Cossa is an an up and comer. I would be shocked if they don't finish top 5 in the Western Conference.

I know McKenna has had a number of turnovers and giveaways because he's always thinking the pass, and sometimes it gets picked off, and there's an immediate transition… But I'm surprised nobody here is talking about the constant line shuffling. I think Hilller is too quick to shuffle lines when they're not producing after one period. I don't like that. It leads to scrambled play. I find him very fast to make line adjustments during the game.

So just like how Jets took out their anger on the Habs after the 7-0 blowout by the hurricanes, Habs should take out their anger on the Leafs after that choke job :ROFLMAO:

That last few minutes was fun to watch! Some games just flip within a shift or two.
I just recently started watching hockey. Its very entertaining compared to some of my other sports I watch.

Montreal plays Utah before playing Toronto.
