My convo was about the red transit lanes. Try and keep up.
And as the travel times along Bathurst that I have posted evidence, there has not been any notable increase in travel time for the almighty single occupant motor vehicle driver since their inception.

You and other entitled-feeling motor vehicle drivers may carp and wail "that it is a catastrophe" now, but the travel times prove that you and they are NOT credible.

If you are trying to paint a scenario that traffic in the downtown core isn't insane, you truly are delusional.

17 minutes now from Bloor St. to Billy Bishop Airport via Bathurst St. via single occupant motor vehicle.
and you think this is good?

the distance is about 2 miles

so 2 miles in 17 minutes

almost 9 minutes per mile

I can run faster than that

that's about 7 miles per hr speed

it should be at least 4 times faster than that

that trip should take no more than 4 minutes

think before you post

U brought up the red transit lanes on Bathurst St. as being a disaster for motor vehicles drivers on that stretch of road and also the cause of your 45 minute drive from hell from the Gardiner to Bloor St. W. a few days ago.

I merely posted motor vehicle travel times on Bathurst St. both north and southbound from/to Billy Bishop Airport to/from Bloor St. on various days and at various times of the days, most of which being rush hour, and they consistently showed between 18 - 22 minutes.

That is not a travelling hell as you proclaim it is, in fact it is frickin acceptable to most sane and rational people, even sane and rational motorists.

The problem is you are not credible in the least on these issues of moving people within the inner core of the city.

I back up Squeezer's figures.

And the whole idea is bullshit. A street car ambles along every 10 minutes. And to make that street car marginally faster - if at all - you screw over 50 or 60 motorists.

So you reduce lanes by 50% and you don't increase travel times????................. Hmmmmm. why doesn't that sound right to me.

Sure u back up squeezers figures, but with an anecdotal personal observations not of reality but skewed to a mindset unable, unwilling and incapable to accept documented fact that on numerous occasions over the past day or so confirm:

As of11:17pm, motor vehicle travel time on Bathurst St. southbound from Bloor St. W. to Billy Bishop Airport is 19 minutes.

Give it a rest.

I see both points but here’s the thing. Street cars SUCK and car volume SUCKS. We also can only expand the roads so much given Toronto’s infrastructure.

The only solution is more subway lines. I think this has been proven with studies already. More roads/wider roads = more car volume. (And more streetcars = more traffic).

The only way to combat the traffic is to add more subway lines. Between the money and the time is takes to build them, we probably won’t see this solution play out in our lifetime. Maaaaaybe our kids will see it but at this rate who really knows.

Lakeshore bike path is poorly designed as multi use and there are always confused tourists
And no, nobody should be assaulting anyone for traffic issues.

Aren't you a little ball of sunshine.
The Lakeshore bike path is great the way it is. The Bloor bike lanes were half assed and horribly designed. As for being a ball of sunshine. Better that than a hibernating liberal.

Concur

Los Angeles for example has many wide, multilane roads and an extensive freeway system (which makes up 63% of roads in its center), yet it remains one of the most congested cities in the world

So more and wider roads does not mean less congestion.

Boston's Big Dig alleviated severe traffic congestion directly in downtown Boston and on core project routes

But the reason it's congested is not because it has freeways, but because 13 million people live in LA and services and residences and jobs are far apart and require use of a car. If you subtract roads, you increase congestion.

It might be an indictment of the suburban subdivision and mall concept when a city increases beyond a certain size, but banning cars and mandating fewer roads is kinda like saying "My finger hurts, I'll just get a knife and cut off my hand."

Yeah, that's at 11:17 PM. When traffic volume is probably at 10% of peak rush hour.

Doug Ford laughs at you.

No, Mr I don't Drive a Car, so What Do I Know.

Traffic backs up badly, especially close to Lakeshore. Try driving north on Bathurst at rush hour.

And the decrease in travel time for street cars is about zero.

this is why we have this traffic mess in Toronto

the wokes that run the city have no fucking clue what they are talking about

19 minutes do drive 2 miles is good to them

that's 6 miles per hour

that's walking speed

and this genius thinks it's good :ROFLMAO:

Lakeshore is good except the area through Harbourfront, where the combo design of lanes of traffic, LRT and bike path lead to stupid accidents all year long.
Toronto bike lane designers seem to want to design a different system for each road and to make sure that each one ends a block before it should, so there are crappy transitions. That said, they are still better than no bike lanes and have lead to more cycling and less injury and death, without slowing down traffic.

The only people pissed at the bike lanes are people who don't live here and Mandrill.
Mandrill walks one of the few East West streets without a bike lane 4 times a week and still doesn't understand that its no faster than College, with a bike lane.

If there are no bike lanes this will be what cyclists are legally forced to do.

Below were the travel times during prime time rush hour this past Thursday, Oct 22, 2026:

Right now 4:58pm. prime rush hour for motor vehicle drivers.

Bathurst St. southbound from Bloor to Billy Bishop is 21 minutes.

Bathurst St. northbound from Billy Bishop to Bloor is 20 minutes.

20 minutes is damn good in the downtown area.

I can, in a skewed and warped way, someway, somehow understand a disconnect from facts and evidence, but as the travel times, 18 - 22 minutes, I have posted over the past few days clearly confirm you are detached from reality.

So, please stop making a fool and a liar of yourself and give it a rest.

I drive, take transit and bike.

Traffic backs up badly, close to Lakeshore up you say? I wonder why:

Your last comment about streetcar travel time on Bathurst appearing NOT to decrease at all says a lot about your mindset.
