That reminds me, the first R&R musician that i saw live was at the Crang Plaza, Keele & Wilson, ROMPIN RONNIE HAWKINS, singing FORTY DAYS his first big hit.
Eddie, i think Crang Plaza was Jane and Wilson...on the opposie side of York Plaza....i know because as a kid i went to St Phillips grade school right behind the York Plaza
i saw Eddie Floyd there, as well as Soul singer Jackie Shane, back in the day
Ronnie ,s version of 40 days was great....It was a cover of the Chuck Berry tune 30 Days...Ronnie gave her more time ....lol

You're right. I also saw Jackie Shane at one of the spots on Yonge St. About Ronnie, did he not live somewhere near cottage country in Ontario for a number of years?

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Greece

“Stagger Lee’s” dance club at Spadina and Queen in 1983. The 1950s and early 60s themed bar had been known as the Horseshoe Tavern prior, as well as returning to that name and format shortly following. *Note* this was the origin of the checkerboard flooring.
