POLL: Another Endurance Research Project — How Much Is Your Time Worth?
The first Endurance research project looked at how much we're spending.

That poll is still open for a few more days, so if you haven't voted yet, you can find it here:

Now I'm curious about another currency in this hobby:

Our time.

What Got Me Thinking About This?
I mentioned in the spending poll that a DM conversation with another TERBite got me thinking about all this.

His hobby budget was around $2K for the entire year, and this guy was doing some serious homework before making his selections.

He contacted me looking for some intel on an SP I'd reviewed. What started as a DM exchange became pretty detailed.

At one point he was even sending me example pictures of women's body and ass shapes to show me exactly what he liked, then asking whether the SP I'd reviewed compared to those examples.

I'll admit it.

I was starting to get a little annoyed.

I'm thinking:

How much time are we going to spend researching one booking?

But here's the twist.

In return for my intel, he gave me a few recommendations of his own—and one of those turned into an incredible find for me.

So maybe there was something to his method after all.

Which brings me to Endurance Research Project #2:

THE POLL
Before booking an SP you've never seen before, approximately how much time do you typically spend researching your selection?

  • Almost none — see her, like her, book her
  • 1–2 hours
  • 2–4 hours
  • 4+ hours
  • It can stretch over several days
The Endurance Research Questions
What's your research method when considering someone new?

And the bigger question that got me thinking about all this:

How much is your time worth, and how much of it are you willing to invest before making that booking?

These days I've found myself doing more repeat visits with familiar SPs.

No research required. I already know what I'm getting.

Curious to hear how everyone else approaches it.

I will take this in antoher direction.
I tend to wake up early just like a work day, 5am ish even on Wed, Thurs, Fri, when I do typically do not go to the office.
Instead I go out on a scrounging run in my car.
No traffic delays.
On those mornings in the fall/winter it is rec league hockey season.
So I swing past the dumpster of a 4 pad arena not too far from home and hustle up empty beer cans.

Typically 3x1 hour gathers and 20 minutes to turn the squashed cans in.

Last week was $140 cash from the beer store.
That seems to me to be worth it as a way to use that not working time.

Hardly any time. Might see a review, look at the ad and decide to see that lady. Have spent a fair amount of time trying to see someone, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Was trying to see a well reviewed younger diva in London for a good part of the last 6 months. Engaged in conversation a few times, had an appt set up that she no showed for. Tried a third time recently, we ended up in a text exchange that stretched over the course of the afternoon and late into the evening. I asked her a couple times to come see her that night. She just kept talking. Told her I was going to the local strip club, which got her onto a rant about how shitty the owners of that club were. I said "You had the chance to stop me from going here". An hour later of this, I said "Why am I not in your bed right now instead of sitting here? You obviously have the time and I asked 3 different times". Turns out she had no intention of seeing me at all over the cardinal sin of making a negative comment on here about the prior appt that she stood me up for.

So not exactly a lot of time spent planning on whether to see someone, but in this case, a lot of time wasted on actually trying to see her. I think looking at pics I like and asking around to try to find as close a match as possible is going a little overboard to be honest.

Researching has been easier because of the internet. You look for reviews on TERB (or elsewhere) and if there are any, then it's a personal decision her reviews are postive. Ask any members their experiences, if it applies otherwise it's TOFTT time and hope for the best, especially if it's LL or Listcrawler.
With agencies especially if you're a regular, you can ask them if the SP you ask about is someone you should see. If they say yes then you book (or don't) or take the agencies recommendation(s) of any other of their ladies that they'd recommend.
My general research time is maybe 30 minutes, maybe 45 minutes if I get sidetracked. I usually stay with SPs I've seen for a while.

Nice thread - my time easily exceeds over a few days (> 4HRS for sure :D ) with recommendations from members here as well when seeing someone new for the first time, but once the initial time is spent - I enjoy years of great service. All in all - worth the time and the ROI is worth its weight in gold.

For me it varies.

I try not to over research, or to over read reviews. I don't like having really fixed expectations and preconceptions. I will do a search and a skim for obvious recurring red flags.

Near the bottom of my budget I'm pretty comfortable with a blind, or near blind, TOFTT with an agency provider based on nothing more than a feeling. Towards the top of my budget, independent or agency, I would like to see some detailed reviews from know reviewers. My desire for reviews is balanced against my curiosity.

I only really see "classifieds only" providers when I'm out of town in places with no agencies or independents. In that case I check for reviews (that often don't exist), and I have strict screening criteria to keep myself out of fucked up situations.Though, these days, I mostly just wait to get back to the GTA.

So it varies, but it's usually not a terribly large amount of time.

Oh man, I remember the LL days. 😂

As a newbie I'd see a profile, trust the "verified," and pull the trigger. My first experience actually turned out pretty good.

But after getting scammed a few times, I went completely the other direction and started spending way too much time studying ads before making a selection.

Previous ad in Calgary yesterday and NWT the day before? Pass.

Same girl, different hair colour, advertising the same night under a different phone number? Pass. I actually got scammed once and later noticed her doing exactly that.

Once I discovered agencies, things got much easier. See a profile I liked, make the booking.

Interestingly, I already had a TERB account halfway through my LL days but never really figured out how to use it effectively, so it sat dormant. Even after moving to agencies I wasn't using TERB much.

What finally brought me back was an agency SP asking whether I'd read any of her reviews. Camryn impressed me enough that I started paying more attention to TERB, and not long after that I posted my first review.

But here's the conundrum I've found with using reviews to research agency girls:

I've booked someone after reading a glowing review and ended up with a dud.

I've also booked someone without reading the reviews first, had a great time, then went to write my review and discovered someone else had posted a not-so-flattering one.

My reaction was basically:

Thank God I didn't read that first. I might never have booked her.

So today I'll still read reviews, but I don't necessarily let them make the decision for me. Sometimes you just have to go see for yourself.

And I've now got about seven favourites, so repeats have created the easiest research method of all:

No research required. 😂

Pretty resourceful way to get free cash to pay for a cash hobby like this. Although I can't see myself getting into a dumpster I have crushed $60 worth of cans in the garage for a bear empty run. Found that took quite a bit of time and effort.

I just use a modified garden weeding tool.
Three hooks thaty are spread out tines with about 2" of them at a 90 degree bend from the shaft.
The working end is now epoxied to the hardwood dowel handle so it wont pull out.

I use this tool to poke bags in the bin. That lets me to hear the ones ripe with cans.
I then then hook end on these select bags, to fish the loosely tied garbage bags, that are about 90% empty beer cans, from the bin.

Most I get actually from taking the rolling collection trolley and sort the bags before I toss them into the bin myself.
When I do that arena staff dont have to, so they are happy to let me do this.
I always leave the place tider than I find it.

I squash the empty cans between my hands as I go, then toss them in an otherwise empty trash bag used to take them home.
