Victor Davis Hansen makes the claim that 27% of Canada's population is comprised of people who were not born here. If you count people who's parents weren't born here that number jumps to 45%. He argues this is ruination because most of these folks immigrated with little to no wealth and that Canada doesn't have the economic growth to sustain them. I tend to agree. Our federal leadership has mismanaged immigration for at least a decade, if not longer.

For context the US with all its illegal immigration has only about 16% foreign born population.
Since 1991 the Liberal party has held power for 23 of the 35 years. That's where the blame lies. High tax and spend economies see dramatic reductions in birth rates because people can't afford to have kids. That and a new voter base are the main reasons why we've seen spikes in immigrants.
