Just saw what the title says, and all the while he was on his cell phone, and totally oblivious to the street car driver clanging his bell continuously.
This POS is gonna kill someone one day...and to top it off he did it again at the next intersection as I can hear the street car bell clanging off in the distance.

I nearly got smoked getting off the streetcar a few years back.

The person driving was jabbering away, completely oblivious.

Makes it even more miraculous that none of the passengers that bolted out the street car during the Sammy Yatim incident were struck by oncoming traffic.

The city design of the streetcar infrastructure (1930s old design) in Toronto is shit compared to Amsterdam. In Amsterdam, passengers always get off the tram on a safe island and cross when the walk sign is on.

Passing a bus on the right is unique to Toronto

A out of town driver could be unaware of how it works. I am surprised more accidents do not occur

The extra long streetcars make drivers want to pass them whenever they think they can so they take risks

Always look right when exiting, that is your responsibility

Time to put these dinosaurs down. Streetcars are a plague.
They are slow, often empty
When they stall (accidents, breakdowns, snow ) the entire line behind them stalls.
They obstruct 2 lanes of traffic on every stop, and yes infill and exfill can be dangerous (cars, scooters, cyclists)
Track repairs shut down significant portions of the street for prolonged periods of time.
Track repair is not cheap

just get rid of them.
A modern city runs transit underground.
Buses are just fine until we get modern subways

It’s a terrible problem and shows how unaware people are of their surroundings… how they were trusted to operate a vehicle is beyond me!

On the other side of that coin, why hasn’t ttc created some sort of extension arm to block vehicles from passing? Kind of like that little stop sign on school buses but longer. Perhaps it’s a liability thing and/or design issue… who knows but I think that would help with prevention.

Unless they get sued multiple time I can't see those silly trams going away.

I wonder what the turn around is for bus drivers in TTC.
