Firstly, I want to say I'm very flattered you think I'm American as a Canadian, it makes me happy.

Secondly, America ranks higher in all of those things for most people, it's only when it comes to the poorest people that Canada ranks better in anything, and that's because hard workers like me fund it with my tax dollars. Not to mention the debt we love to sink this country into by borrowing.
Yes America definitely ranks higher for crime MUCH higher. It also has the highest prison population in net number AND BY FAR percapita. Also it has the highest drug prices, and a higher infant mortality and shorter lifespan then Canada all while spending VASTLY MORE on healthcare. Actually Canada is better off from the median income level on down. So its not true that only the poor are better off in Canada.

Oh, I think Canada will alway remain a top nation. I've traveled around. We have too many advantages to fail. People come here for a reason.
Venezuela also had too many advantages to fail

AI Overview
Yes, Venezuela was once the wealthiest country in South America and had one of the strongest economies in the region

then the socialists / commies gained power

AI Overview

Socialist policies under Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro led to severe economic collapse, widespread scarcity, and a massive humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.

America actually catches and punishes their criminals unlike Canada, so no of course the stats are higher. We never bother catching them, and if we do they don't go to prison, they get a slap on the wrist. Canada is NOT better off on median income level, that's BS. The median income in the US is higher and they are getting far more bang for their buck and a better quality of healthcare and living standards. The rest of what you've cited are just inflated stats from poors, who are the only people who have it better in Canada, on my dime.

But anyone qualifies for Canada right? All those student visa's working at Tim Hortons and sharing a room LOL! So you admit America is better.
I guess you didn't hear...

Canada’s population shrank by over 234,000 in 9 months—as Carney government curtailed immigration and trend continues - The Hub https://share.google/7uz2xiQYlIvZbtmRX

Our population actually shrank for the first time since WW2 due to stricter immigration policy by Carney.

Those are facts. You lose.

They are so generic and boring that they become interchangeable. I know its knew if a bunch of them generally but but worry too much over which is which. They all sound the same.

But in the end they out themselves.

Um, well first you were wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

After that is does matter. Because its targeting the fake student/school visa programs. Exactly what needed targeting. The baseline will catch up. We have a below replacement birthrate. So immigration is not an option we can refuse.

Nah I'm not wrong, this is a temporary show for good PR. They will reopen the flood gates again soon enough.

Why do you think we let the fake students in to start with? Because we needed low skilled labourers since the country was in debt after covid. And also our birth rate being below replacement is why Canada is going to become Little India.

Don't bet on it. Carney is much smarter. He is going to target people better.

You can't have it both ways.

If it was smart for the individuals who did it,

and enough individuals did it to win,

then by definition it wasn't collectively stupid - it was collectively successful.

You're just saying you don't like the result.
No, you seem to be having trouble with the concept.
Something can be successful but stupid, those aren't in conflict at all.
You're whole premise is flawed.
Only a small portion of people who voted for him are getting benefits, even the benefits they thought they were voting for.
Probably not even a majority of them, and they were a minority of voters.
So for most people, voting for Trump was stupid. Collectively, putting him in power was stupider than not.

Pulled the chute by the 6th page so hopefully, I would be repeating someone else.

It is misguided to say people who voted for Trump are stupid. Everyone knows he cheated on all of his wives, was not a successful business, stiffed contractors/partners, plead the 5th and low enough to cheat on golf. Not fake news all documented facts.

IMHO: some voted for the party, regardless of leader; some voted against the candidate of the other party, sham on the Dems for ignoring the decline of Biden; some voted because Trump offered hope that Dem's did not; some voted for Trump because of the righteous left, eg less than 1% are trans and yet it becomes a major hill for the dems while the US is a tire fire.

Dems need to ask themselves why would people vote for someone with Trump's track record and not write them off as stupid. Actually it is stupid to think of them as stupid.

It is sad that two neighbors worked together for decades, creating a relationship what was so trustworthy that we crossed borders without passports are in a trade war. There are no winners. Consumers pay the tariffs and government relief is justed added to the debt which their citizens will owe. And as our joint economy stalls, the rest of the world continues.

If the demands where the US have a say in our future trade deals, easing of French/English laws and further crave outs are factual, I support Canada's decision.
