A question for the ladies: why tattoos and piercings?

Here's a question that's been puzzling me for years. Why are so many SW's into tattoos and piercings? Obviously not all of you, but perhaps a good 80% of you? Is it a rebellious streak against normal society? Is it because your friends have it too? Is it a group identity thing? When I first started in this hobby, meeting you, hardly any of you had any of these body art, now most do. Or is it something else entirely?

It's not just SP's. Many women of all walks of life are tatted and pierced these days. I personally don't have an issue this, unless they have tats on their face....lol.

I used to not care much about tattoos. I was neutral to mildly put off by them. Arianna DD totally changed my view. Now I actually pay attention to the art. I wouldn't go as far as to say I am actively seeking them but I stopped regarding tattoos as unnecessary adornments. I guess times change, cultures change, people change as well...

Can only speak for myself. I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia from a young age and I would say overall tattoos have helped me with this. I was drawn to alternative culture and tattooing as yes a form of expression and anarchy as you described. I always felt that people who are heavily tattooed carry a certain aura and I wanted that for myself. Always been creative and interested in art, adrenaline junkie, with an addictive personality. When I started getting tattoos I loved how it made me feel more than anything, hence why I was motivated to continue 😈💉

But, why do you think it's become so popular in the SW community at large? A group of people with similar personalities to yours? Is it that common of a personality? Body dysmorphia.

Limited work opportunities for us? LOL I’m joking I don’t really know. I think it is just more common/accepted in general for people to have tattoos now. Free will and $

Have you been living under a rock or in a cave in Afghanistan, for the last 10 years? People of all ages and genders have tattoos and piercings, these days, not just SWs.

My daughter is a grade 6 teacher. She has 6 tattoos and 4 piercings, and has never done sex work (to my knowledge).
