It's not just SP's. Many women of all walks of life are tatted and pierced these days. I personally don't have an issue this, unless they have tats on their face....lol.
Can only speak for myself. I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia from a young age and I would say overall tattoos have helped me with this. I was drawn to alternative culture and tattooing as yes a form of expression and anarchy as you described. I always felt that people who are heavily tattooed carry a certain aura and I wanted that for myself. Always been creative and interested in art, adrenaline junkie, with an addictive personality. When I started getting tattoos I loved how it made me feel more than anything, hence why I was motivated to continue

Limited work opportunities for us? LOL I’m joking I don’t really know. I think it is just more common/accepted in general for people to have tattoos now. Free will and $
