section of bloor street i drive on is always packed to the brim during rush hour (around dufferin) to the point it's at a stand still
I've never seen more than one possibly two bikes using the lanes at any time of the day or week. Even the weekends they're rarely used. Now you really want to see a shit show. Drive on the west part of Bloor St when line 2 is shut down for maintenance on the weekends and it's a line of about 40 red rockets being used as shuttles.

I see more cyclists and scooters running red lights and stop signs than vehicles. They get injured or killed because most of them think they're above traffic laws. Have also seen them hit pedestrians on the pathways of lakeshore.
Of course you do, they do, think they are, they do.

It's odd though that 99.9% of the time it's motor vehicle drivers committing all the injuring, maiming, dismemberment, killing and dangerous, reckless and careless driving.

Where do you see all of this. In La La Land. It's very obvious how reckless and careless cyclist and especially E-scooter riders are.

@Anbarandy

If they rerouted the bike lanes away from Bloor street onto side streets, what would be your problem with that??
I drew up a map on what they would look like.
The red lines are the new bike lanes.
You would use them to get from Dufferin st. to Parliament st.

Why do that when no problem exists at all and the communities and merchants along that stretch of Bloor St W. are in favor of the existing bike lanes as it increases sales and livability.

Better yet, why not get rid of on street parking and sweep the road clear of all illegally parked and stopped vehicles.

Good riddance. Unnecessary garbage for pretentious people who think they're better than everyone else and don't need to abide by the laws of the road just because they're on a bicycle.

Funny cause all the businesses on that stretch have the petition on their windows to have them removed. No one has benefited from them.

I can never see it removed because this is a Global Pazi Mandate. Thank Amazon.

I had a conversation with my local city hall on having the bike lane in front of the school drop off zone. Yes the bike lanes is infront of the bus exit/entrance. A kid will be in a wheel chair one day.

Here is their mandate....

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today. following up with our conversation, I am listing here two valuable resources: Burlington Integrated Mobility Plan and Ontario Traffic Council, Book 18- Cycling Facilities.

For any other questions feel free to let me know.

I was responding to Phil 's post about the bike lanes on Bloor St. W. from Dufferin to Parliament.

Ur talking about the tiny, wee, stretch of Bloor St. W. in car-is-king, NIMBY, Ford's-ville where any type of change to the 1950's status quo is met with whiny, upturned snobby noses and bellyaching.

Doesn't matter. The residents don't want them in to begin with. The stretch on Islington village and Bloor west village opposed them and they put put in any ways. Plenty of homes and business voiced their displeasure and were ignored. Mississauga council wanted to impose them on Bloor St too but threats from residents put an end to that. The bikes lanes are so Mickey mouse any ways. Just paint slapped on the roads with posts on springs.

Bike lanes don't do anything for the majority of the people in DT...it caters to the "elite" few... i mean you already have these electric scooters which are taking over...bike lanes are obsolete...funny how most of the people use it think they have more rights than pedestrians too. so much entitlement. and FYI...i do gravel, road and mtb pedaling...

See, this is one of the many reasons why your opinions on this matter cannot be given much merit at all. In fact they mostly get tossed into the trash.

Islington village is much different from Bloor West Village.

Car centric, NIMBY, Ford loving, stuck in the 50's mindset Islington village and it's fact-stretching BIA can torch the bike lanes for all I care. They deserve what they want.

Bloor W. Village which I live just a 5 minute bike ride away did not oppose and want to keep the bike lanes AND the traffic there has NOT changed much at all since bike lane installation. There is no "Going out of Business" signs or empty storefronts there. The residents and business owners seem quite content. Bloor EW. village is thriving and the residents love living there.

So to all those who want to impose their idyllic 50's suburban car-centric lifestyle on Bloor W. village and other areas of old Toronto, it is best you swallow your own prescriptions and "stay in your f*ckin lane."

And are you able to do this in the winter as well.
Yup. Granted, there are a days when the road conditions don't feel safe enough. But, that's only about half a dozen days a year or so.

Cognitive dissonance is high. I understand that facts won't change your opinion. Anecdotal evidence is all you have and it doesn't make it a sound arguments.
