How much more bombing can Iran take? Probably a lot. And, unless the US wants to basically engage in war crimes, they face diminishing returns. It's amazing how bombing civilians turns them against the bomber...just look at England and German during WWII - both though bombing major cities would have those citizens beg leaders to sue for peace. That did not happen, and instead both wanted vengeance. So Israel's little story about how the Iranian people would rise up against the theocratic regime was just a massive pile of bullshit that Trump eagerly jumped into, but not cannot wash off the smell...
So, he can't bomb them into submission....and he cannot open the Strait with the US military.....What can he do? All this with November coming on quickly and energy prices higher than back in early February...
Invade? Sending thousands of US troops to Iran would be a massive undertaking, and an invasion would likely result in significant casualties. This wouldn't be like Iraq, the population is significantly larger, and while the military might not have a lot of tanks or artillery pieces left, they do have soldiers and partisans who bleed the US badly. And, for the president who promised no more wars...that just won't help.
Accept Iran's demands? What does that mean? Sending billions to the country you just bombed and getting nothing in return? Getting a peace deal that is significantly weaker than Obama's anti-nuke pact? We all know Trump would figure out a way to try and spin this, and his cult and other idiots will likely but into that fiction...
Basically, Trump is really fucked here. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. But, maybe Iran decides to give up its leverage. Maybe Trump can will a better outcome. That is highly doubtful, but I guess we'll see...
An enemy that has lost everything, is an enemy with nothing to lose.
For Iran to play ball, the US has to give them something.
The best he can do, is give them something, play up whatever he gets in return, declare victory while silently accepting the defeat and move on.
They try incredibly hard to convince you how European whites who did not exist in the times of Saul, are "indigenous" to the middle east. lmfao.
Iran seems ready to just ignore trump and wait him out.
At this point there is no need to involve america in discussions unless trump thinks he can run a naval blockade forever.
Here's the other thing: Iran aren't full of idiots. They know November's mid-terms are breathing down Trump's neck, and the longer this plays out (or the worse it gets), the better odds that Trump will be further sidelined...and face scrutiny for his stupidity. The nightmare scenario: Iran fucks up the energy market even more, sending oil prices higher in mid-October so the price of gas hits $7/gallon...Which, isn't outside the realm of possibility. So, the GOP takes an ass pounding and loses control of the house and Senate. Now Trump faces a congress that will actively take on its oversight role. No more rubber stamping his idiotic tariffs or military engagements. No more grifting through stable coins or crypto...Now serious investigations into all the bullshit.
But, the problem doesn't end for Trump if he manages to get a peace deal. What will he need to give up to secure that? We know Fox and company will try to spin it, but there is really no scenario where the US doesn't have to give up a ton of stuff to end this. Say something gets done by September....will the average American support this massive fuck up? MAGA likely will.....but how many normal people will?
And, the funny thing is, you can see the rats on the right are already abandoning ship. You got Fucker Carlson, MTG, Candice Owens and other prominent right-wingers actively calling out Trump because they know his brand is taking it in the nuts and they don't want to be associated with it when it goes down.
