As a conservative I always look at context. What kind of jobs did we add to the economy? Full or part time or temporary. What sectors were the hiring based? Private or public. Where were these jobs added? etc.
Where: 52K of these 75K jobs came in Ontario. 18K were in BC and 6K were in Manitoba. Most provinces saw no change or a decline. Newfoundland & Labrador unemployment rate went up 1% month over month.
They don't mention what the actual breakdown of the jobs are between full and part time and seasonal. But they do say the majority of the jobs were in the private sector. Finance, insurance and real estate led the way followed by scientific & technical services and then construction.
You can knock AB all you want but they have been one of the best job creating provinces in the country from January-June. That economy is also the most adversely affected by the trade war.
If you're going to try and give Carney all the credit for these positive numbers then you probably have to give Ford the same (or more) credit since its his province that is driving the numbers.
On a personal note, the company I work for based in Ontario has added net 4 new employees since May (a 33% increase). 2 in ON, 1 in AB and 1 in N&L. Average starting salary is $87K. All in IT support. We've been able to afford this not because of anything Carney or the Liberals have done, its driven by our partnership with a US based company.
