Going to Stratford to see "Waiting for Godot"

. I read Waiting for Godot years ago but have not seen the play. Enjoy!
Tongue in cheek, It is kind of a short prequel to Seinfeld:

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen staged it on Broadway - I don't know who wore the puffy shirt.
Be prepared to laugh as there is slapstick but be prepared to be bored as that is the point
You are meant to feel the boredom the characters are feeling
Before Godot a play always had the script of buildup, tension, ending but not in this play
It rewrote what a play could be. It ends where it started so it is a historic play to see if you love theatre

We are all waiting for some etherial 'sequel' to be able to, perhaps, answer that question.
I was expecting the title to be followed up with "And does anyone have any recommendations for who to see while I'm there" lol
Studied this play at university with a bad professor LOL
IMHO, Beckett does not have the answer or he would of said it. He did say if he knew who Godot was he would have told us
The character Lucky gives this rambling speech that is hilarious as he speaks with fury for a few minutes
spewing out intellectual pretense which seems a direct reflection of our inability to actually understand our existential questions
BECKETT seems to be setting the stage for philosophical questions that the audience will incur with their own thoughts
if they isten with an active mind
It is a thinking man's play or, perhaps, the idea is not to think for the real truth may be Beckett is fooling us, as we fool ourselves, therefore he is not fooling us but showing us who we are

Saw the show and the preshow talk with a professor.
It was a very good play with very good actors.
I call it good acting when the actors seem believable, as though they are not acting. The expression is if you are going to be an actor do not get caught. They became the character, felt the characters emotions which, in this play, is challenging as you have to put meaning into a play that defies meaning
I would have added better slapstick as our existence is slapstick if God never comes , and more of the actors just sitting there still and doing nothing to let the audience feel the characters boredom as boredom with life seems the point of the play
To me, it is the human existential crises
The slave master thing seems about interrupting the boredom by giving false meaning to our ego and feeling good about ourselves through ego dominance. Just my original take. I should of told the professor that to see if my interpretation was original and valid but it is intimidating to ask questions in a room of 100 bright people who understand the play
The professor had an interesting take on it. Waiting for godot was written after ww2
so all the post war destruction was the driving force of the play and slave master was capitalism
It was shown at San Quentin prison where the actors were actual prisoners.
Beckett said they understood the play better than the public because all they do is wait
I did gata chance to say hello to a couple of babes just to try to chat them up but conversation never happened. I did not see that they were with a guy but were in group or with what seemed like parents. This approaching women thing is best in a setting of frequent meeting in a social environment so the ice is already broken .

Oh yeah, during the break I was standing in line in the washroom and said to stranger don't I know you? Were we standing in line yesterday? What are we waiting for? The wit beside me said "We are waiting Togo" We applauded.
It is hard to get strangers to break the 4th wall and converse like friends. The problem is everywhere not just men trying to make friends with women
The drive from Toronto is amazingly horrible. I left before rush hour at 1: 30 for a lecture that started at 5:30 and got there at 5:45 for a 100 mile drive
