If the referendums were shams then Ukraine and the West would DEMAND UN monitored referendums. But they don't because they know what the result would be. And if they held them, then they could no longer contest the annexation or whine and bitch like you are doing. Its not about criticizing Israel, its about showing the sheer hypocrisy of you and of the international "rules based order"

I didn't want to say anything until it was confirmed but Graham's sister is going to run for his Senate seat.
That's respectable way to succeed your brother.
As I mentioned, it's not that uncommon for wives to follow their husbands into Congress.

If the South Carolina voters want a Graham legacy in the Senate, that's their prerogative.
Ehhhh, I don't think so much about the next few months. It seems like the Senate is shutting down.
Our Congress was always intended to be a diverse group of citizens from different backgrounds.
The only qualification is that a majority of citizens decide to have a person represent them.
You don't have to be a lawyer or a professional politician or any other profession to represent people in Congress.
I'm guessing that is how the Canadian Parliament was conceived.

That she was appointed as a replacement so they could control the votes was clear.
Her running means they must think the incumbent factor is enough to carry her through.
Who knows, maybe she actually wants to take it seriously and not just be a rubber stamp.

If Darline Graham Nordone wins, she is validated by voters. If she loses, it was a brief transition.

Now that she's said she is running the primary, I expect them to drop out.

Oh I agree. But there were no guarantees once he took the leadership. Only won one majority, and that was based on 10 years of Harper, legalizing pot, and a failed promise of electoral reform. After that he barely hung on.
This Senate is one of the top 200 most powerful political positions in the USA. So again, what are her qualifications? She shouldn't get the appointment. Imo its about the need for votes for reconciliation part three to pay for the Iranian war.
Top 200 is actually quite watered-down. Only a handful of Senators have much power beyond roll call votes. Sitting on a committee is great, but the chairs have far more power over the agenda and hearings.
Perhaps they need her for some Iran war vote. Finding prominent South Carolina Republicans who support military action isn't difficult. I'm not sure the Iran votes are all going to get done before November anyway.
I'm sorry just seems like something else to gripe about. I'm curious. I'm not picking up that there is major contention. Is there a media outlet pushing this story? If there are, you probably realize they need stories to gin up interest. Many times they just fall flat.
I don't think hand-wringing is necessary here. Graham's sister is going to be facing some formidable Republican foes. Since South Carolina has a majority system, the top two will face off in a run-off.
