I can't figure out why people would gamble online when the algorithm is designed to make you lose lmao
Understand what you are saying, however, I have been playing online poker for the last three years playing tournaments only max $10 buy ins and have cashed in over $3,000. I know you have to be lucky, but the most important thing is you have to know your percentages in catching the right card. The bottom line is, YOU GOT TO KNOW WHEN TO HOLD EM AND WHEN TO FOLD EM. LOL.

Listen bro. Gambling is the absolute shit of addictions. You cannot limit yourself.

First thing is BAN yourself from the online sites you have bet with. Do this NOW.

Then set restrictions from 1 to 3 years.

Its the only way.
THIS. I knew a buddy that won a bunch of money, but was starting to slowly give it back. He banned himself from all the available sites. I would ban yourself from the nearby casinos just in case. There is nothing you can do about it.

It's like you were trying to quit smoking, and in the process, every cigarette store banned you from purchasing. It automatically locks you out.

Once you break that habit, you'll soon start to forget about it.

Anytime I think about gambling, I tell myself "OR... I book an incredible time with an SP instead." That usually works for me!

In all seriousness, if you still find yourself gambling, find an outlet or someone to sit down and talk about this. Not on the internet. In real life.Get it all out. Make the difficult choice to talk about all the guilty times you felt after gambling away money and how you felt afterwards. Sometimes you need to open up and spew it all out to get rid of that crux. I'm wishing you the best of luck sir!

No different than any single game inside the casino. Look at how many people play the slots. It's a computer chip to take your money in the long run. It's an addiction for a reason. You see and hear people all excited and winning money. There are bright lights and loud noises. It's all built to keep you coming back. Why do you think Vegas turns sand into gold?

What the fuck made you think you could beat the house? I was driving through an Indian reserve in Washington State. Most of the houses were slum properties. Turned a corner and saw the palatial casino on Indian land.

Things that make you go Hmmmmm.....

I don't know, this post screams that the guy hasn't fully accepted things. He knows he has a serious problem, but thinks he can just scale it back and all will be well. In fact, he seems to be trying to PROVE it. That's not really how addictions work.

Unlike substance abuse, there's not really a medically sound reason to ease off gambling rather than go cold turkey. Don't get me wrong, the first week or two will be rife with psychological struggles, and even some manifesting as physical symptoms, but it shouldn't be chemically dangerous to your body in the way substance abuse withdrawal can be. I have not heard of a single success story for gambling addiction except with guys who quit cold turkey.

If the guy is serious about overcoming this addiction, optimally he would check himself into a detox center for 2-3 weeks, to get through the worst of the symptoms and train him on best practices to avoid relapse. He may also want to hand over his finances to a trusted individual or other fiduciary until such time as it is deemed wise to return those finances.

I've never figured out why so many people play slots. What's the point of a game with absolutely no skill?

I had a serious gambling addiction and knew it. It's a horrible way to live and lucky for me i got help before it was to late. I did a lot of damage to myself, friends, family and took me about 2 years to recover. The only way the OP will seek help is when he hits rock bottom or close to it. The only way to stop is by cold turkey. Most of the above suggestion will do little to help him. Banning yourself from a casino just doenst let you collect your winnings but you can still go and blow all your money.

Most gambling requires no skill. It's the "thrill" of getting lucky.
The casinos also design slots to believe you have some control. Let's say a jackpot requires 3 Blazing 7s, and you spin the reel and you get two of the 7s and the third 7 just barely misses. Most players believe "I was SO close. It's got to be close to hitting."
In reality,it's just an algorithm.

I guess I'm blessed to not get that thrill.
