The first four shows are in the books. Mexico City tonight. My older son and I saw night four. Seeing the first show, after seeing their last show ever with Neil in that very venue would have been great, but logistically going on the weekend was the smart move. The San Diego to Los Angeles commute is always fraught with peril, weekdays are worse.

We had a ton of songs that we wanted to hear, most of which were very long shots. We got some really good ones on our night. Others that we wanted to hear were played on other nights. Xanadu, The Camera Eye, and foremost A Farewell To Kings were among our wishlist that were played on our night. Cygnus Book One and more so Book two, The Necromancer, The Fountain of Lamneth were also among our wish list. Not sure how many shows we’ll see, but we definitely want to see even more after seeing the set lists. I’ve seen every tour since Hemispheres, being a 12 yo aspiring bass player in a three piece “band”. About 75 shows in all.

Here’s the set list comparison table.

We would have really loved to have heard the songs played on other nights. The Analog Kid , Natural Science, La Villa Strangiato, Leave That Thing Alone, Headlong Flight, Closer to the Heart, Anthem, Dreamline, Bytor and the Snowdog (incorrectly noted as played on night four, they actually played , Finding My Way). But it was great! Very emotional for us.

Can’t wait to make the pilgrimage to Toronto that I’ve always dreamed of. To see them play in their hometown. To see St Catherine’s, Lakeside Park, the Ontario Legislative Building depicted on the Moving Pictures cover, North York, the Willowdale neighborhood of Dirk and Lerxst. To overlook the city from the CN tower, (all made much sweeter by being on the company dime).

They looked great, sounded great, Anika was fine. Good choice going with an unknown woman. Anyone going to RushCon?

I know that I sound completely psycho. Guilty as charged!

As a prog rock connoisseur Anikas Nilles has assumed control. She showed remarkable fortitude on one of Rush's most difficult songs. She had to follow Geddy's cue, he went insane!

Leave to Dirk and Lerxst, of course they made a great choice.

She recovered well after that opening night, opening song fumble. Imagine the weight of being in her position.

I love the Cartman impression he does when he sings the words Bytor and the Snow Dog. Out of the around 75 shows that I’ve seen, this last one was right up there.
