VGK beat Carolina in game 1. Tight game, both teams played and scored fast. I think VGK will end up winning the Cup and let Marner wear a ring that he never got in Toronto.
Cory Hart is simply the best goalie in NHL.

Vegas has Tomas Hertl playing on the 3rd line with Stone.
Hertl had 32 goals last season and 24 this.
He's also big 220 lbs and fast.
That's a deep and solid forward group with plenty of legit scoring threats.
Carolina scored 4 goals on Hart on 27 shots. That's a 0.852 save percentage.
Vegas scoring depth won them this game.

Vegas almost blew a 4-0 lead. Carolina has fight, something the Leafs never had in the playoffs.

Which goalie should Carolina start for game 4???
Bussi for sure. He was their best all season. Andersen has been ass and Bussi would benefit from playing under pressure win or lose.

Regular season is not the playoffs but Bussi's stats in the regular season are much better than Andersen's and it's not even close.
Bussi 39 games played 31 wins 8 losses, 2.47 GAA and 0.895 save %
Andersen 35 games played 16 wins 19 losses, 3.05 GAA and 0.874 save %.
It'll likely be Andersen but it should be Bussi. He looked confident. Andersen does not.

Andersen doesn't have much to brag about his playoffs performances so it makes sense to try a young untested goalie who has had success in the regular season.

Cole Smith for Vegas had 14 hits in game 3. That apparently is a record for most hits in an NHL Finals game.
He's 6'3" so big guy.

For a team like Carolina those save percentages are quite poor.

I agree, but I'm hesitant to give Andersen too much of the blame. His teammates should have played much better in the finals so far. It also doesn't help when your own defenceman are scoring on your own net.

They have nothing to lose with Bussi in net. If they go back to Andersen then you'll never hear the end of it if they lose. Bussi is young and had a great season so it's still the better move even of they lose. Andersen doesn't make the big save when needed but Bussi has that ability.

1 and 1 for this round, 8 and 6 overall. At least I'm guaranteed to be over .500. This is it.
I'm cheering for the 'Canes, but I think Vegas will take it in 6. VGK are fast and deep, but they also seem to have horeshoes up their ass this year.
I'm glad to be wrong on this one. I finish 8 and 7.

Congrats to Carolina and Brind'amour for shaking off years of choking in the conference finals to win the cup.

Bussi deserves the Conn Smythe just for game 6. He was a brick wall.

Carolina was on top of their game for a complete 60 minutes. Vegas looked sluggish in the first 2 periods.

Andersen over Marner.

Bettman gets booed again. Pritchard delivers in the clutch as ususal.

Stall hands off the cup to Andersen first. Classy.

Jacob Slavin wins a Stanely Cup and an Olympic gold medal in the same year.

I called Carolina in 6. Marner put that in doubt when he scored a hat-trick and premature celebrations of the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup going to him.
