I get that, but at the same time it doesn't really change the taste of the meat or anything it just ensures they can have more customers try their food so it's never been an issue with me

Dodgy area but I've heard good things about Comal y Canale.
I have been to Comal y Canale a few times over the years. Although quite good, the price for a proper meal here is about the same as a steak dinner at The Keg. And parking is a bitch. Check it out, but the price is disappointingly high.

I was thinking, no one's mentioned Taco Bell? 😂

El Sol on the Danforth used to be great (Mexican) albeit I haven't been in a very long time.
But it WAS dubbed "El Slow" because you need to have a free evening and enjoy the very long service!

Good restaurant, at least it was. Haven't been there in a while. Mexican woman owns it and does all the cooking. The chicken mole is really good. But yes, very slow service.

Tizoc near Gerrard and Logan is excellent. Mexican owned and the entire kitchen staff is Mexican. Check this one out if you're in the area.

Mole is a type of sauce that is deep in flavor. It stews for hours (not unlike a Sunday gravy in an Italian household) and is typically comprised of dried chili pepper(s) that have been reconstituted combined with Mexican chocolate.

Mexican cuisine is centered around pork as the main protein. My guess is if they want to be Halal compliant they would have to eliminate pork products. Which would then make them not an Authentic Mexican restaurant.

If you want authentic Mexican food, head up to Bradford. Theres a few spots up there that were started by Mexican field laborers (so the story goes) who came up to work the Holland landing growing area, Mexicanada is one that I remember.
Also, there used to be a place called Yo Tacos around islington & Steeles. Looked like a spot where the Cartels would roll a few severed heads in the door, but the food was incredible. Place also had a pretty good nightclub vibe weekend evenings

first thank you for your input to all ...
i went to bradford la Mexicanada and i enjoyed it... i got the opportunity to speak to the chef.. a nice atmosphere.. and relaxed.. next week will be another place from here...

The Mexican owner/chef at El Sol on the Danforth travels to Mexico once a year and brings back all the ingredients to make her mole. Try her mole chicken, it's really good.
