Groceries, fast food, gas, hobbying.

Otoh my rent was going up 2.5% each year since I moved into an apartment 4 years ago. This year no annual increase...

I am more concerned about core inflation which they say is not too bad at the moment.
I don't drive that much and have five grocery stores within walking distance so I get a lot of specials. I do the odd drive to Walmart also.
So, gas & food are under control. It is a concern though as my hybrid pension has a DB portion which is not indexed.
Not retired yet but could be soon with changes going on at work.

Everything's gone up in price, as it usually does but it's been expedited by Covid and then the quick inflation hit that happened. Although inflation is now under control, for the moment, prices have still been pushed higher in part, from what I believe, is the bigger corporations pushing prices to improve their bottom lines or until they feel the backlash form the people that buy from them. Nothing's as annoying when the corporate head honchos "cry" they hardly made any money the past year but when they're financial reports are released their profit margins are significant.
Food prices in particular are ridiculous anymore and even the bargains aren't the deals they used to be.

The blight of the Orange Cancer and his tarrifs contributed to inflation as well.
I still get cheap smokes on the reserve. I also now bake my own bread in a breadmaker. Plus I grow my own tomatoes green beans green peppers rosemary and dill with some black garlic to savour the sauces.

I’m one of the lucky ones, I suppose. The increased cost of living hasn’t really affected me, but I do feel bad for the younger generation(s) who are/will be impacted disproportionately.
LIkewise, cost of food is pretty cheap for one as I buy what I am going to eat that night. Since I travel and work from home gas is not an issue. The perks of being single I guess.
