We know nothing at this time.
But the first thought that sprang to mind was that it was a Trump fan taking his "The Press are the Enemy of the People" thing too literally.

But, in fact, we know nothing right now and there are going to be bunches of unsubstantiated and probably conflicting reports for a while.

Correct. but the guy who ran through the checkpoint at the WHCD and was shot at by the security cops was a teacher from California.

From what I can see, he didn't have a gun and just wanted to crash the dinner and yell at the Fat Orange fuck for a few seconds.
