I saw him back in the day perform on tv on a show called Black & White. His voice was amazing. He also had a backup group playing background music, mostly guitar and one performer stood out much more than the others. Turned out I recognized the young guy, non other than Bruce Springsteen.

Eddie i had the great pleasure of seeing Roy...at the Hook and Ladder club on Wilson Ave...i think it was called that..anyway i went with my 1st wife...late 70,s...she was a big fan of his as well....what a show....one song after another, no fan fare, no chitter chatter..just him and his music....I saw him back in the day perform on tv on a show called Black & White. many versions of House Of The Rising Sun...my late father owned this record a 78...i still have it my my collection...i treasure it...and when i pass. im not sure what will happen to all the old records i still own from my father
i believe the original was attributed to a Black FolkBlues singer named Ledbelly.. i think that was his name, but i think the singer was his wife...at least that,s how the story got told
