Yeah, $ 50,000 to $ 60,000 for each intersection. Cool nonetheless.

In the 1970s I lived in Vancouver. I remember distinctly in 1973 driving through a major street in Burnaby. In those days the speed was listed in miles/hr. There was a sign that stated "Traffic lights timed at 30 m/hr. I drove at 30 m/hr and hit all the green lights for miles. How did they do this in 1973 and we can't do it today?

You're not getting anywhere close to 30 mph in DT Toronto during rush hour.

This is why I rarely post anymore. I ask a reasonable question and someone does not answer the question, and instead states the obvious. Then, when said poster is called out for his obvious post, he becomes defensive.

You asked 'How did they do this in 1973 and we can't today'. My point was that if you're able to drive 30 mph, there isn't a traffic flow issue. A lot has changed in 50+ years, obviously 🙄

I wonder what they are using for this.
"AI traffic lights" doesn't tell us anything meaningful.

Timed lights.
They still have those.
We just rarely have the traffic flowing at a speed that lets you catch the timing and there hasn't been a way to dynamically adjust. (Which, presumably, the new lights will do.)
