You need to eliminate the Iranian artillery and missile blockade on the Straits quickly....
Even if they do that, the Iranians can apparently scuttle a few old tankers, and strand the strait, which would take years to remove and clean up, effectively blocking the strait.
Cleaning it up also cannot begin until the conflict is over.
An economic doomsday scenario.
Taking Kharg won't matter then.

Here are the problems.

If you seize 1 of the smaller islands, you do nothing to stop the interdiction and make your occupying force a target for artillery.

If you seize Kharg, you fuck up the production of Iranian oil and further compromise the world economy.

If you block and turn back Chinese ships and even fire on them, you get World War 3.

You need to eliminate the Iranian artillery and missile blockade on the Straits quickly and without allowing Iran to beat up America's Gulf allies by destroying their desalinization plants. The US does not have the firepower to do this yet from what I can see. Because morons Trump, Kushner and Witkoff were too fucking stupid to plan for any likely contingency that would happen. So the US appears to be fucked.
Its not artillery, its drones, missiles and fast boats that Iran will use.

The Kharg invasion has hit a snag already.

He is right though.
Biden kept saying that Israel had not reached his "red line", during the Gaza seige.
He did send them weapons etc.,
Granted not to the extent Trump has, but he was just as much for Israel as any other US president.
While he did support Israel as would any President before him have, he wasn't happy with the all-out bombardment that was being done and behind closed doors was expressing his dismay, unlike Trump, who joined in, including up to suggesting on building Trump Hotels in Palestine.

That said, Muslims who voted for Trump because they were angry at Biden, made the worst mistake.
Had Trump not been in power we wouldn't have this war in the first place.
This is my whole point and pet peeve with Frankie's position.

I can understand folks being critical of Israel at this point, but to lose all common sense to me is stupidity.

Speaking of facts. Fact: the US and Israel continue bombing the military infrastructure of the Iranian islamic regime, literally as we speak.
The Iranian coast line along the strait going out to the ocean is 4000km long. All vertical cliffs, and behind them are mountain ranges. All loaded with missiles, drones, underwater drones, mini subs, and much more. Bombing buildings won't work.

Yes, Trump is worse, but Biden expressing dismay and doing the opposite has the exact effect of doing absolutely nothing about it.
So the anger against Biden is justified.

Agreed.

What happene3d to the thousands of Iranians that were protesting against the government?
So you are saying, that you are so worried about the 1000s of Iranians that died in the protests, that you decided to support killing 3000 more, including 180 kids in an illegal attack on a sovereign nation?
Make it make sense or better yet, give your head a shake.

We will see.
I certainly hope they will significantly damage their military capability.
