The first round of qualifying games begin tomorrow. Most are at the same time 3:45 EST. Let's go Northern Ireland!

The reason why the Azzurri are at The Bridge of Death and having to answer two questions. Francesco Acerbi retired from International duty, he's had Haaland's number almost every match they've played. In the return leg against Norway, Haaland made like Arnold and had Mancini for breakfast. Add to that Calafiori was out injured, poor Bastoni looked so harried.

Both Calafriori and Tonali were on the IL and Pio hadn't arrived yet.

You ain't seen nothing yet, wait till Incazzati arrives!

So they are going to lose to Bosnia and Herzegovina?

I don't follow soccer that closely, but how the hell does Italy miss 3 straight world cups? I thought they were a true soccer superpower?

The Calcio Azzurri no longer dominate Italy's sports scene. Jannik Sinner is in the top two in tennis, Kimi Antonelli won his second consecutive F1race and the Baseball Azzurri looked entertaining in the WBC. It doesn't end there, Italy beat England at the Six Nations Cup...that was sweet!

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a young team, much like Canada was in 2022. They will play Canada in Toronto on June 12. Any Bosnia and Herzegovina fans in Toronto?

Football is the quintessential world sport, and no nation has an automatic entry into the WC based solely on pedigree or reputation. It is disappointing for Italian supporters, because when their team does qualify, it often goes very far in the tournament.
There are many countries that do manage to qualify, but never win.

Where did you get that notion?

The Italian head coach complained about FIFA allowing too many African countries to qualify and not enough European teams since FIFA expanded to 48 teams. He also complained about the qualifying process for EEFA teams.

Gattuso had valid points.Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Italy, Ireland etc had a much harder road to qualification than the majority of African countries, many that are, like Canada, not very good.

Well, if Italy ranked 12th in the world, can't beat Bosnia #65, they don't deserve to be in the World Cup. Nothing is guaranteed in sports; they have to play the games. Massive failure no matter what.
