you should tip though since they are splitting their income with their handlersGood legitimate point, it is part of the pay structure. Not sure about Canada, but in the US, minimum wages are reduced by an assumed tip credit. But I bet most tipped folks cheat on income taxes and don't fully report. I still think it's a ridiculous system.
When I rarely eat out in Phoenix (fine dining at Denny's or similar), the waitresses don't have any accent and some I have got to know (I once eat out more but have to watch my weight) were going to University etc. But I am in outer areas we used to call suburbs when living in the Mpls area, not downtowns or areas known for migrants, etc.
Yes, I can swing it - it's just I think it is crazy and I would rather spend money on mid-level hotels like Marriotts, Porter Reserve seating and of course your women
BTW, I DO usually tip 20% at restaurants, since I realize for low-wage workers it is part of the system. I am against it, but I'll proceed with the current system.
On the other hand, I have never tipped an escort, massage gal, or stripper since I treat them as professionals who are not just making minimum wages, unlike the service industry.
