video chat before meeting

HI Everyone

I emailed a provider and proceeded with the deposit. She was courteous and polite. However, she wanted to send voice memos via whatsapp. While that wasn't common for me, I thought it was a reasonable first step.

However, we are meeting in about a month. In the meantime she wants to do a video call via whatsapp. I don't' quite understand the purpose behind this request. I worry she will record the session for some sort of leverage.

Has anyone encountered this before? what purpose is there behind this?

She's based of out montreal and Toronto. I don't want to disclose her name until I understand the situation more.
