“My advice to Vance: announce your support of [a] 25th amendment transition,” McConnell wrote on X on Sunday. “Say [Senator] Chris Murphy or similar will be veep. Announce you will NOT be a candidate in 2028. Use your position, access to the media to explain why this is necessary. Don’t resign,” he added.

The 25th Amendment sets up the legal framework for a transfer of presidential power to the vice president if the president becomes incapacitated or unable to fulfil their duties, dies, resigns, or is removed from office by impeachment.

The notion of Vance taking over has repeatedly bubbled up since Trump's return to the White House in January 2025, when, at the age of 78, he became the oldest person to assume office.

This is a developing story; updates to follow.

Here
Vance and the rest don't have the balls to do it. They are terrified of MAGA.
You beat me to it. Trump purposely surrounded himself with spineless ass kissing idiots who will do whatever he says.

Vance is spineless. Trump's cabinet are spineless. They are either too afraid of doing what is right for the US, or they are just making too much money off of this grift. I look at his economic advisors, Bessent and Lutnick are both successful businessmen, yet they did not object to Trump's tariff scheme, especially the part where Trump "negotiated" with countries (the point of Trump's tariffs were to re-shore manufacturing, so you defeat this by allowing it to happen in other countries). They ALL knew that attacking Iran would result in the Strait of Hormuz being closed. Now, either they didn't strenuously make that argument, or they just kept quiet like Yes Men tend to do.

The point here: There is basically no scenario (outside of Trump planning to launch a nuclear attack against Iran or Trump went into a coma) where they would use the 25th. He either has a stroke (lord knows with his diet that's just a matter of time...), somebody tries to impress Jodi Foster, or his term runs out...

Its that old joke, guy walks into the doctor's office and says 'I've got a chicken stuck to my head', doctors asks why doesn't take it off, he says 'I would but I need the eggs'.
Or something like that.

But I think you're right, Vance and all those around trump are making a ton from insider trading with knowledge of announcements coming.

Lutnick has been very quiet, or I just haven't noticed him yapping in the media since his embarrassing Epstein fiasco. Bessent keeps stumbling and mumbling his way through interviews, trying to pretend like he's not full of shit. LOL

Give it time. The Straits lock up for a few weeks longer and the US economy collapses and then the smarter sycophants - Vance, Bondi and Rubio - will sell the old man out and 25 him and the GOP's will go along with it to save their own asses.

Maga would turn their back on Rubio and Vance in 2028 and without MAGA, the Republicans are reduced to the likes of the NDP here. LOL

I understood why the Bush were elected. They were decent. They were able to grab the undecided vote. Even if, like usual, their republican years lead to war and recessions...

The economy is socialist. We invest when things are peaceful. I should get the Nobel Prize in economics with that sentence

And of course, the economy is good under the democrats. Crazy!

Who does Maga have waiting in the wings though? If Vance and Rubio do the right thing and maga drops support, where do all these so-called king making votes go?

They are not really kingmakers; they alone will not win an election. Trump was able to gain the independent, Latino, and male votes with his lies too add to the MAGA base. I'm not sure if I see another Trump waiting in the wings for the Republicans. The party if Trump were younger would push for a third term, but then again, this war may prove even Trump himself is dead in the water.

And they may face a men. Sorry to say, but American Latinos are old school and do not vote much for women. They vote for the men, whatever their color, as we saw with Obama.

Yup, this is one of the reason Kamala lost. The same can be said about black men.

He is now polling consistently below 40, heading into 36 range. Once he dips to 30, it will be interesting to see whether they start to break ranks.
