I think that's actually part of the frustration - tip menus coming up at fast food places when a business knows people use tap regularly. Wastes too much time and really defeats the whole purpose of tap if you have to hit 'other', then 0, then enter, then ok, then tap.The odd time I get a coffee at Tim's drive thru I just tap my card. I'd be annoyed if I had to press no on the machine and stop going there.
Can I pick up on this a bit?I don't mind tipping at restaurants especially when the food is good and the same thing when I get takeout from those same restaurants, otherwise no tips for any other places. And when I tip, it's based on the value of the meal, NOT including taxes.

Just the tip??It is weird now. Different everywhere. In Europe they were happy to get a couple dollars. Same with Costa Rica when there. Here they have minimum 18% on most machines. Even 20 or 25%. It is getting pretty bad. I do remember the tip jars. Maybe with digital currency people are not paying with cash any longer so no change to drop in the jar.
Mind you, I like the tip.![]()

Haha, it is a start. The rest is even better.Just the tip??![]()
its unreal like i get that in the us servers get paid around 2 dollars an hour and make up the rest in tips but servers here get paid almost the exact same as minimum wage damn near 20 dollars an hour so why do they need 30% tips for standing around looking pretty?Tipping culture has gotten too Americanized all across the globe, tipping at a sit down restaurant where they bring you everything or a delivery driver who delivers you food is one thing, but expecting tips for standing behind the counter doing nothing? Get real
It's kinda funny because while menu knowledge is not needed, waiters actually work harder physically at buffets because of multiple trips to clear plates.I don't like tipping at Buffets, I'm the one getting my own plates.
5 bucks to a hotel maid, 10 if you are a bit messy it not a hardship. And believe me they work hard and have to deal with a lot of gross things in hotel rooms. It all started in the railroad days where black porters relied on tips for income.
When I was in Germany you just rounded up to the nearest Euro at restaurants to not deal with coins.
In much of Asia its considered an insult.
It is even more silly to tip an escort, a massage gal, or a stripper. Never have in like 40 years of experience and never will. Never been an issue, as I treat industry gals as professionals, not like railroad porters or minimum-wage restaurant workers. Also, never tipped any hotel maids, which I guess some folks do.
Ahhhh so you do work at Mandarin! Bring out more chicken wings Jeeves. It's kinda funny because while menu knowledge is not needed, waiters actually work harder physically at buffets because of multiple trips to clear plates.
It's ok to tip less but remember tips are also split for hostesses, bartenders etc as well.
