I call BS. This is not the first organisation that is trying to put the CRA under a misleading light, so as to elicit business.

So I haven't listened to this yet but make no mistake about it, CRA is abusing their powers. I have experienced it first hand. Their mantra of 'respect the taxpayer' is absolute baloney.

I have worked in taxation and, for the most part, the CRA is fair and honest. There are, as in every organisations, unscrupulous people. However, that doesn’t mean that we paint the entire organisation with the same brush. I am sorry for you that you were wronged.

You don’t need to watch the videos posted by OP to know the gist of their content.

There are horror stories w CRA. Some are skewed and factually incomplete and others are absolutely 100 percent correct and damning.

They are a massive organization. They have a stated purpose and many there are just trying to do their best but ultimately it’s like any Govt agency…Poorly governed. Poorly managed. Poorly staffed….Poorly trained.

Internal improvement stems from the glare of the scrutinizing public spotlight as we are seeing. Best to keep the spotlight on them.

Indoors Usually
With the federal layoffs there will be a lot less staff to be running around abusing powers - they will have a hard time just doing the stuff they are supposed to be doing like tax collecting and not answering the phones.

Regardless if this is true or not. we have to prepare ourselves and consult with our tax accountant when we talk with a cra employee.

The decision of whether to consult w a tax professional prior to or during a call w cra is based on the potential cost of the issue vs accountants time x billable rate. Simple as that.

Nobody with any appreciable money on the line should ever talk to CRA unsupported
