If the Canadian government had a desire to reduce sex work prices (which it of course doesn’t) the most efficient way to do so would be a Ukrainian “was widows” program. A preference would be given for long-term residency for Ukrainian women in the 18-35 year-old range with the only subsidy being generous rent vouchers. You would see an abundance of lower-cost incall offering from beautiful Ukrainians. It will never happen, but that would reduce prices.

Next election the only politician who's going to get my vote is the one offering bailout packages to SW. I'm going to the dollarstore tmrw and making signs saying "WE WANT 2005 PRICES FOR SEX AGAIN" and protesting. These fine sexy ladies each need a bailout package of $400K each so prices come down too.
Could you explain why you believe we’d lower our rates upon receiving said package?

The economy is not doing well, both supply and demand have fell at the same time. The consumers feel uneasy about their jobs, rising prices, and the overall economy. Because they are worried, they spend less and put off buying things they don’t really need. So even though there is less supply, demand also drops, because people are cautious and confidence is low.
There are less ladies that have entered the biz because minimum wage has raced up over 50% in a few short years. As the economy tightens there will even be less minimum wage jobs available, If inflation ramps up these gains in increased minimum wage will shrink. We have been through a pandemic, many people had less opportunity to earn and save in the last 5-6 years. I suspect that government spending is at the highest it has been in the last 10 years, so any stimulus the government can put out will be minimal.
IMHO the hard times are here. Instead of preparing for the coming storm many people will wait for the downpour before they act.

An analogy to the situation is the coming Chinese EV cars and EV/hybrid cars. Soon the Canadian consumer will have a choice of a competitively price vehicle that is less costly to operate and has many more features than existing vehicle on the Canadian Market today. Once the consumer steps over to the new choices, he may never come back. The traditional vehicle manufacturers will have to offer a better deal to regain the confidence of the consumer..

I think the poster regarding the 400K was just being flippant. Most ladies would take the money and run their business the same way.

The always irritating columnist (he likes bigger words than that to describe himself, though) Nicholas Kristoff of The New York Times famously gave a number of Cambodian sex workers money to leave the trade, but someone following up on the story discovered that most of them soon began working in the industry again soon after, though often in higher venues such as bars. I think most of us would make Kiva loans to ladies who want to have the funds to do their own advertising and promotion.

And on these economic analysis, it is important to remember that Giselle and the ladies who participate here are personal service providers. The economic commodity principles will apply to LeoList type ladies (unless Nicholas Kristoff gives them money to not do sex work) much more so than Giselle and similar providers.

Interestingly, I was in Japan last year and visited Tobita Shinchi- it’s a street in Osaka filled with brothels, apparently they offer 20mins service for $100 CAD. The only drawback is no on-site showering available

Jenesis,

Time-of-use or off-peak pricing is a smart business strategy during slow economic times because it helps business bring in more customers without cutting prices across the board. When the economy slows, fewer people spend money, and businesses often have empty seats, unused staff time, or extra inventory. By lowering prices during slower hours, companies can attract price-sensitive customers while still charging regular prices during busy times. This helps increase sales, make better use of resources, and keep cash flowing. Instead of lowering all prices and hurting profits, businesses use timing to stay competitive and protect their bottom line.
Compare a situation where an SP does nothing and another that has special pricing. Not only will the pro active SP see more regular clients, she may be getting new clients as well. Possibly your clients. Imagine how much of a difference it would make if the Time-of-use or off-peak pricing brings in 3-5 additional clients a week. The future of the economy is uncertain and with a crazy man as president south of the border that just killed the Iran's leader the world may be headed for a new war in the middle east or even possible terrorist attacks. Imagine a scenario where you client visits are cut in half. We are not comparing Coke to Pepsi or McDonald's to Burger King. You will probably agree that the SP biz is quite different. The clients does not know the level of quality experience he will get until he experiences it himself. You as an SP have no idea of the level of quality experience you offer as compared to other SPs. If a client tries another SP that is equal or better than with you and now is offered the possibility of lower prices you may be stuck listening to dead air while the other SP is making $$$.
I am not dealing with the headache of guys asking for the discounted rate during peak times and complaining about the higher rate.

I will keep rates the same and budget accordingly like I have been doing for years.

Also choose your vacation travel wisely - there are MANY awesome foreign destinations for us mongerers which not only are gorgeous girls available at much lower rates than here in North America but also no worries about police and perhaps best of all, you can usually pick from a large group of them in person and speak to them in order to determine if they are a good fit for you before committing to any session. This greatly reduces bait and switch due to online photos we have here in GTA as well as scammy profiles. Not only does terb have an international section (where I post many trip reports) but there are many online resources such as International Sex Guide, ie., like a terb for most countries around the world that have mongering scenes.

You seem to be missing the core principle of strategic marketing and purposeful discounting. Discounts shouldn’t be applied during peak demand, they’re most effective during slower periods to attract new clients. When used deliberately, discounting helps fill otherwise unused capacity, improving the efficiency of your available hours. The value of a discounted offer isn’t just in the immediate transaction. A single new client acquired through a well-timed promotion can generate 10, 15, or 20 additional visits over the next year or even hundreds over several years. If you simply match a competitor’s pricing while they deliver a superior product and client experience, you position yourself as the inferior option. They’re offering a premium experience at that price point, while you’re competing without differentiation.

You seem to be missing how men work. LOL.

Guy A sees you during off peak time and gets the discount. Guy B wants the discount but wants to see you during peek hours.

Guy B bitches and moans he wants off peak price because of blah, blah, blah. Trust me, it will happen. Repeatedly.

I’m not deal with that. I’m not dealing with a different rate structure.

You guys act like we all want to be booked every hour of the day. I will sometimes goes days without appointkents because I don't feel like working. This tiered method of rates has no appeal to me. So enjoy trying to convince others. I don't want and will not do this. Thanks but no.

There is a very real possibility of an impending recession, driven by the aftereffects of the pandemic, trade tensions, and geopolitical instability. The economic slowdown is either approaching quickly or already underway. If your client base is primarily bargain-seekers, it’s not surprising they constantly negotiate on price. That type of customer is typically transactional, they’re not concerned with long-term relationships, only immediate value.
SPs operating with strong demand and a well-positioned offering won’t face that issue. When demand exceeds available capacity, pricing holds firm, and clients are more inclined to accept rates without friction rather than risk losing access.
There are growing signs of economic softening. Retail and dining traffic is thinning, and major tourism hubs like Las Vegas Strip and Disneyland Park are seeing reduced activity compared to typical levels. These are often early indicators that discretionary spending is tightening, which tends to precede economic slow downs.

I didn't say they are bargain seekers. But people are people. Stores even honour new lower pricing if it has been a short duration from time of purchase and a new sale price. I have done it. Bought a couch and 3 days later it goes on sale. I want the sale price. Not because I am a bargain shopper but because if I had of known, I would have waited the 3 days.

It is human nature to want the lower rate. I am not willing to do this and deal with the possibility of a guy wanting the cheaper rate for whatever reason he thinks he is entitled to it.

Look - you are not going to convince me. You are just not, so stop. I don't care what Vegas and Disney are doing. I don't agree with the pricing levels, I don't need to do it as I am not feeling the pinch of the economy and I just don't want to so please, jump off this train and leave me alone about it. I'm done.

It seems doing a little searching that there are ladies in almost every price range, to me it mostly depends on the duration of the visit. Find one that you enjoy in your price and stick with her! I also find continued visits developes a more engaging encounter.

The semi-criminalized sex industry is the main reason for the existing market structure, where SPs have more market power. Opening the market for legal bordels (where people can just walk in without making an appointment and choose from available girls or a more developed agency market where agencies have lots of girls on call available on short notice and rooms in a single large venue known to everyone in advance) would dramatically shift the demand from independent SPs to the mass bordel/agency market. Not saying that individual SPs will lose all market power - each SP offers an individual product, so, some market power remains, but many buyers will go a more convenient route. But, like waiters hate the idea of higher wages but no tips, SPs do not want to have legalized prostitution

Enjoy 30 minutes of company with a generic SP. Not young, but may be more experienced. May have freshly rebuilt boobs and recent colegen lip injections. No designer clothing but fashionable clothing from Walmart or Joe Fresh brand. Instead of the 22 year old flashy model type, try the 45 year old divorced yenta or 50 year old recent granny that is looking for new adventures after her husband of 30 years has run off with a 25 year old girl. This type will take her sexual frustrations by giving you the best sex she can give to spite her EX.

If you vote for the Liberals or NDP stop voting for these parties. They are the reason why just about everything is so unaffordable.
Keep voting in Ford and pay for healthcare, public education. Fund all his projects that will further fatten his pockets and now with his push for FOI. Okay there bud!

The sad thing is that there are no really young independent SPs: at best, they are 25 y.o., most in their 30s. I bet, in case of a legal brothel, it would be much easier to find a girl in her early 20s among the pool of "generic" SPs. The stigma, illegality, and absence of information about the industry significantly reduce the supply. If it were as easy to become an SP as to find a job at McD or become an Uber driver, the industry would be much better for the customers.

The pandemic just removed the urgency for a while. Stimulus during the pandemic lower spending and fewer social pressures made SP jobs easier to avoid. There was less social pressure and demand to have the latest I-phone or recent fashions for the average university student. With less new SPs entering the biz in the last 5 years, there are fewer choices available today. Minimum wage in the last 10 years have gone from $11.25 to $17.60, in the past many ladies became SPs when wages did not make ends meet. Many have not entered the biz because minimum wage has risen much quicker than career wages. I was at a car dealership recently, a service manager was telling me that there was a shortage of young people doing car repair because it was a dirty grimy business. Young guys prefer to take tech jobs. If less young people enter the biz, the pool of workers will be much older in 5 years. In the last 5-6 years there was less urgent need to enter the biz. Less single moms out there today. As the economy weakens, more ladies will enter the biz just like during the 2008 financial crisis but it may be a situation of more ladies but fewer clients as they too will be effected by the economic downturn.
