'As a sincere friend...': China responds after Trump urges countries to send warships to secure Strait of Hormuz

Mar 15, 2026

Hours after US President Donald Trump urged many countries including China to deploy warships in the Strait of Hormuz to secure the region, China and the UK have responded. A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington told CNN that China wants an immediate cession of hostilities, and that “all parties have the responsibility to ensure stable and unimpeded energy supply.” The UK's Defense Ministry responded saying that they are still weighing a number of options to ensure the security of the strategic shipping route. There has been no response from France, Japan, South Korea so far. Stating that the security of the Strait of Hormuz should always have been a “team effort”, Trump in a Truth Social post on mar 14 said that the countries of the world that "receive oil through the Hormuz Strait" must take care of that passage." He also declared that the US will help them.

In a statement quoted by CNN, Chinese Embassy said, “As a sincere friend and strategic partner of Middle Eastern countries, China will continue to strengthen communication with relevant parties, including parties to the conflict, and play a constructive role for deescalation and restoration of peace." A spokesperson for the British Ministry of Defense said that the UK is “currently discussing with our allies and partners a range of options to ensure the security of shipping in the region.” The Chinese response amid uncertainty over Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping's meeting in Beijing in over two weeks.

Meanwhile, at least 29 maritime incidents have been reported since the closure of Strait of Hormuz by Iran. Several Indian Navy warships have been deployed near the Persian Gulf and remain on standby to assist merchant vessels coming towards India, a report by news agency ANI citing sources claimed on Sunday.

Trump wants countries to send warships to Strait of Hormuz
Trump on Saturday (March 14) claimed, “Many countries, those who are affected by Iran's attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait will be sending warships in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the strait safe and open for shipping.” Though he claimed in a Truth Social post that the US has “already destroyed 100 percent of Iran's military capability”, he urged multiple countries including China, France, Japan, South Korea and the UK to send ships to the area so that the Hormuz will no longer be a threat. He also said that it is easy for Iran to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close-range missile somewhere along or in this waterway, “no matter how badly defeated they are.”
What has Iran said about Strait of Hormuz?
Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, after the US and Israel launched pre-emptive attack on the Islamic Republic on Feb 28. It has declared that any vessel passing through the passage would require Iran's prior approval, with Iranian Revolutionary Guard stating that it would "not allow a single drop of oil to leave the region to the US" through the strait. Brent Crude is trading around $103.14 per barrel as of Mar 13. The closure of Strait of Hormuz has raised global fears for energy and oil needs as it is one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints, through which a significant portion of global crude oil and natural gas shipments transit. Iran also stated it would permit Chinese ships to pass. However, on Mar 14, Indian authorities confirmed that two Indian LPG carriers (Shivalik and Nanda Devi) were permitted safe passage after coordination with Iranian authorities.

Attacks in Strait of Hormuz so far
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations and the International Maritime Organisation confirmed that on March 1, the oil tankers MT Skylight and MKD VYOM were struck and later abandoned after fires broke out, resulting in three deaths. On March 2, the US-flagged Stena Imperative was reportedly hit twice while docked at port in Bahrain. On March 4, the container vessel Safeen Prestige was struck by a projectile that triggered an engine-room fire and forced the crew to abandon ship. On March 6, a tugboat assisting the damaged vessel was hit by two missiles and sank. The attacks intensified on March 11, when a wave of strikes targeted the MV Mayuree Naree, Safesea Vishnu, and Zefyros, causing multiple fires and leaving several crew members missing, according to maritime security updates from UKMTO and regional naval authorities. An Indian sailor was also killed in the Mar 11 attack.

Iran has to be suicidal to reopen Hormuz on the promise of immediate ceasefire from Trump.
Trump and Israel will launch attack right away after the threat of closure of the strait is eliminated.
Trump has made it clear there is no option other than 'unconditional surrender' for Iran.

I took this from another thread.

"didn’t know she was a sniper; fuck that is awesome! Hot as hell and defending Western Democracy!"

From whom, Saudi Arabia? Israel has stopped being a democracy for over a decade. Netanyahu grip on power comes from aligning himself with extremist religious settlers in the West Bank. Religious Parties support Likud, with control of the Knesset.

As for Gal Gadot being a sniper, that's false. I did a deep dive on the subject and found she took part in training IDF recruits. She may have taken part in raids into the West Bank, her potentially killing Palestinians has been suppressed. Now she works as a Mossad Pysop, she's been rewarded for it. As a devout Zionist she believes that Palestinians don't deserve the right to breathe.

As they say, that ship has sailed. Shoulda, coulda, didn't. Mommy, where are my friends? No one wants to play with me. There are whiners and losers: guess The Stable Genius is both, eh!
It seems that TRUMP has to re-establish what a fool he is on a daily basis. . That was established years ago. When you turn long time allies into enemies help is very hard to come by for the bully .

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized the decision on Friday as “not very logical.”

“The lifting of sanctions means that [Russia] will receive more money and there will be more drone attacks” in the Middle East, Zelenskyy said, standing alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

“Russia will get money for its war machine, and there are a lot of drones that are built on Russian soil to destabilize the Middle East,” he added.

Yet again, Zelenskyy demonstrating common sense and simple logic.

Trump's simple logic is that if he dares cross or otherwise slight him, drip, drip, drip....a few bits of Kompromat will come out to remind Dominated Donnie who the REAL Boss of Bosses is.

So is it Iran selling drones to Russia or Russia selling drones to Iran? 🤣
Both stupid.

Each have certain components that they specialize in and have distributed and dispersed component and sub-assembly fabrication within each country.

And I'm sure Russia can afford to send finished Russian-built Shitheeds to Iran because Ukraine has now effectively figured out various countermeasures to render this particular UAV relatively ineffective in attacking Ukraine. Ukraine downs well over 90% of them now.

However, the US and Gulf states don't have the bleeding edge backyard garage workshop innovation that has developed in Ukraine to counter these.

So the Shaheed is still effective when used by Iran against the US, Israel and Gulf states who are still using $4m Patriots to shoot down one of a swarm of 100 $50k Shaheeds.

The MAGA faithful want a Trump The Redeemer statue to be built. He is the second coming of Christ after all, hallelujah!

I'd laugh if it wasn't a real possibility.

However, that video, if you watch it, has nothing to do with Trump AFIK. It's just another smaller town in Brazil that wants to create tourist attraction. A Jesus statue , not a Trump one.

I think the US will deploy MEROPS and LUCAS drones to counter Iran.
But then not sure what these drones can do against mountains which is where all of Iran's military assets are usually buried.
They inevitably need very expensive bombs.
MEROPS could counter Shaheed's but since Iran's attacks are a mix of drones and missiles and dispersed over multiple countries, not sure how effective that will be either.

I guess that means no one is onside with Israel and the USA.

Funny how Iran is clearly the reasonable one here.
Israel or the US don't go through there, so nobody gives a shit, with military ships coming (if) from diffrent countries to escort the tankers, Iran can't do much. Also with the bombing of Kharg Island the US warned them not to fuck around. But Iran doesn't want to block the strait as their tankers are blocked too and they need the money desperately.

Mighty as it is, the US Military has failed in its missions in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. Countries with far less people, resources, equipment and resolve than Iran. And that was with cool, competent, professional, experienced military leadership. Not a former Fox News drunken bingo caller who thinks The Rapture is coming.

Trump is too fucking simple to have come up with any sort of coherent plan.

Taiwan reports large-scale Chinese military aircraft presence near island

03/15/2026

HONG KONG — Taiwan saw a surge of Chinese military planes near the island, its defense ministry said Sunday, after a sharp drop in flights over the past two weeks had sparked discussions among observers.

The ministry detected 26 Chinese military aircraft around the island on Saturday, with 16 of them entering its northern, central and southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone. Seven naval ships were spotted around the island, it reported.

The increased number of aircraft came after the ministry reported a fall that left analysts scratching their heads about what China’s military may be up to.

Taiwan didn’t report any Chinese military planes that went beyond the median line and entered the zone for a week from Feb. 27 to March 5. After two were detected on March 6, the next four days had none. Such flights resumed in small numbers between Wednesday and Friday.

The drop coincided with the annual meeting of China’s legislature. While such flights have fallen in the past during major events and public holidays, this year’s fall was more prominent than in the past.

Analysts said the meeting could not be the sole reason behind the recent drop. Another potential factor could be a desire to calm the waters with Washington weeks before a visit by U.S. President Donald Trump. The White House has said that Trump would travel to China from March 31 to April 2, though Beijing has not officially confirmed that.

Some observers also suggested the decline may be driven by a shift to a next phase in China’s military training and modernization, with the army appearing to be exploring a new model for joint training between its forces.

China has vowed to seize the island, by force if necessary. Over the years, Beijing has sent warplanes and navy vessels toward the island on a near-daily basis.

Taiwan’s military previously signaled that it wasn’t changing its defense posture because of the falloff in Chinese warplane activity.

Defense Minister Wellington Koo earlier noted that China’s navy has remained active in nearby waters, even as military flights have fallen off.

China and Taiwan have been governed separately since 1949, when the Communist Party rose to power in Beijing following a civil war. Defeated Nationalist Party forces fled to Taiwan, which later transitioned from martial law to multiparty democracy.

But you do have to admit that Iran knocking out all THAAD and radar in the first day or two was unexpected and shows they are way ahead of where america thought they were with missiles and drones.

UK, Japan, Australia reject Trump’s push for naval coalition in Strait of Hormuz

March 16, 2026

The “Coalition of the Willing” appears to be more of a “Coalition of the Cautious” this week. Despite a series of high-pressure Truth Social posts and direct phone calls from the White House, President Donald Trump’s request for global powers to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz has been met with a wall of diplomatic “no’s.”

Starmer: ‘Not ready’ for escalation
In a tense weekend phone call, Prime Minister Keir Starmer reportedly told President Trump that the UK is not prepared to commit Royal Navy destroyers to the blockaded waterway. While the US has been “bombing the hell out of the shoreline,” London remains wary of being dragged into a broader regional war.
