I'm in my early 50s and feel the same as you, that a cup parade in this city is the impossible dream. I blame Harold Ballard.
Ballard was a disaster but today's Leafs are a product of something different.
In the 90's Stavros owned the team and with Fletcher as GM we had the best team I've ever seen in this city.
For me, when the team went full corporate was the beginning of the end, this team is all about the money ( not that they're not trying to win),
the new arena was built for and caters to the big money in this city. The team/org has no soul, I'ld rather jerk off at home than watch a game at that funeral home,
and MLSE has so much power in the media to control narrative and keep the stupid pipe dream going. If you don't tow the line, you get zero to minimal access.

A MCL tear is much less brutal than a torn ACL. He should be fine by the summer.

Still doesn't improve his stock value if the Leafs want to trade him, if Matthews agrees to a trade. The Laefs are going to continue to build around Matthews, starting with the guys who stick up for the captain and go from there. If the Leafs had Tom Wilson on Matthews' line, Gudas would be met with a response.

The Leafs have another shot at Gudas on March 30, unless Gudas is chicken shit and isn't in the lineup.
Is it going to be the actual Leafs that have been on the team all year that seek retribution.
Or will they dress some AHL tough guy, play Pezzetta, and have them take runs at Anaheim.

Because if its latter, it actually looks worse for the Leafs.
And I suspect that will be the case.

It's been both refreshing and sad to see the Leafs skewered for not standing up to Gudas after Matthews got his knee destroyed by him. I saw a comparison video vs what happened in 1993 when McSorley tried to destroy Gilmour in the Western Conference Final - Wendel Clark tried to kill the man and McSorley was an insane enforcer with no soul.

Carlo is a huge man but clearly a complete pussy, Nylander immediately did what he does best and start whining for a penalty that was clearly coming, and Rielly admitted post-game he should have done something. Sadly, Cowan hung around this soft team all year and it clearly infected him to not violently react to his captain getting hurt either.

Fuck their no trade clauses and get rid of absolutely everyone - if they say no then make them completely miserable until they change their minds. But before that happens clean house of your GM and coach, they're dead men walking too. It's going to be an awful rebuild.
I'll make one exception for Tavares, as he took a significant hometown discount and we can plug him in anywhere and he'll do it.

Completely agree. I couldn’t have said it better.

Leafs 66 games played 209 goals scored without the help of Marner and Leafs are in the midst of a tanking.
Vegas 66 games played 216 goals scored with the help of Marner
Last season Vegas was the highest scoring team in their Division. Higher than Edmonton.
They were 2 off the highest scoring team in the entire Western Conference.

It's already worse. Can't get any worse than this. Parros will probably suspend Domi for 10 games, big fuckin deal. Hope the Leafs can get a top 5 pick as a silver lining.

Vegas, Anaheim, and Edmonton would not be in a playoff spot if they were in the East. But that's because Colorado and Dallas take up most of the points in the West.

Is there any chance the Leafs could have embellished the diagnosis on Matthews' knee to legitimize keeping him out of the lineup for a tank?
Or is there a mechanism in place to prevent that from happening?

Doctor's reports have to be submitted to the league office, so unless the doctor is also in on it, it's legitimate. Not to mention that AM went down like a house of cards.

The Leafs play better without Matthews. They came back to beat The Ducks and almost beat the Sabres. Anyway, TANK ON!
