We shall see. But if he gets a good deal I'd say the Conservatives are royally fucked. And if Trump goes all Trumpy its still fine because he will be the one blamed.

Trump is likely going to need a win this summer if the war goes as bad as expected. That plays out nicely for us. A few minor concessions on both sides will be played up, secure oil played up, secure minerals played up, secure fertilizer for farmers. And CUSMA gets resigned mostly as is.
This guy right here is still talking about getting a good deal.

Hell, why does he need a majority to make a good deal? You don't make any sense..............Unless he's going to get you into a bad.

And you'll accept a bad deal.

Will this be the end of Pollievre? Turned a lock win into a majority for the libs. Ate an apple when he should have been talking policy.

Maybe Con strategists will realize that the culture war stuff is good for clicks but bad for elections. That said: Trumps fascism may taint the conservative brand globally.
Look, I'm no fan of PP, but we NEED a strong conservative party. Not a far-right party, but a right-of-centre party. One that will focus on Canada, no culture wars bullshit. One that will not have an agenda to remove rights like abortion or all the other crazy shit the US GOP is trying to do. I think PP is not the leader they need, but at the same time, the reality here is that the Conservatives right now are a mess. If you're old enough, you recall the Reform Party and the painful merger in the early 2000s. The Reformers are still there, but without the grace and class of Preston Manning (fuck, I'd even take Stockwell Day). The party is split between the hardcore US-styled MAGAts and the real "progressive" conservatives who are more concerned about things like the economy and not about drag queen story time or fixated on pronouns...

There are no conservatives anymore.
The "conservatives" we have today are actually far right, culture war, grifters.
True conservatism doesn't have any takers out there.

He's making a good deal for himself and his party. That's it.

It's funny. A NDP MP crosses over and your discussion gets directed to Poilievre.

This was never about Liberal policy. It was always about being anti-Poilievre and anti-Conservatives.
The last election showed 2 things: How deeply unpopular Trudeau was, and how PP was also deeply unpopular, but less unpopular than Trudeau.

A majority of voters were willing to hold their nose and vote for PP until someone, ANYONE other than Trudeau showed up.

PP thinks he was popular enough to secure a majority, so do most of the party faithful. Turns out he was just "Not Trudeau". 7,999,999,999 people in the world can also make that claim.

Listen, this story is beyond played out now.

The election is over, Carney won. It's been a year. Come on. Now what?

you do not follow through with the logic
why was Trudeau deeply unpopular ?

partly because of his behaviour, what an untrustworthy, empty suit, imbecile
however predominately because of his parties destructive policies

why was Mark Carney elected?
because he promised he was the man to get a deal with Trump

the liberal parties destructive policies largely remain intact and are expanding
and we do not have a deal with the US

make no mistake, the primary objective of the liberal party is retain / expand their power and to implement a 'post national' globalist agenda
Mark Carney is going to become extremely wealthy implementing a 'post national' globalist agenda
Canadians will see their purchasing power ( more money printing) and freedoms eroded (C-9)
This is not the Liberal party of Jean Creatin and Paul Martin

In contrast the conservatives offer a Canadian Agenda

intelligent voters act in their own best interest

Carney gets a majority and the only thing you guys can talk about are Conservatives.
They are 0-4 by they're own doing. PP lost his own seat. Had to go to AB for a re-do. Also said he'd change ridings again. It's hilarious to point that out. Do I like all Lib policies, no. Do I like the constant whining and dog whistles from the Cons - no. But some people don't really care who is in power, success and failure are on us and us alone. Doing fine, anything else would be pure greed.

WHO else do they have? They'd have to bring in a new leader from the outside.

Carney majority all but confirmed.
Idlout gets the Liberals to 170
Both Toronto seats get them to 172 (majority mark)
Terrebonne gets the Liberals to 173

And this is one thing that is wrong with the Canadian election system: we elect MPs based on their party affiliation (even if it is staged as if we elect individuals), and then they are allowed to change their party affiliation without going through the election process. Just a recipe for buying MPs

I don't think we've ever seen a person or party not elected into office get blamed for everything as much as we've seen Poilievre and the Conservatives.

Liberals have held all the power for 10 years and counting, but all talk and blame is on Conservatives.

This country is way too stupid.
