The US has single digit casualties, which makes this safer than a holiday weekend in Chicago.

The US cannot stay in the Persian Gulf indefinitely to keep the Straight of Hormuz open. Iran will strive to keep it closed or at least unstable backed by Putin which will help Russian oil futures .
On the other hand, China desperately needs the oil to keep flowing through the Persian Gulf which might strain their coalition with Iran and Russia. There are multiple dimensions to this chess game.
Israel and America cannot effect stable regime change to their liking from aerial bombardment alone.
Ground troops would have to occupy Tehran for the foreseeable future which is highly unlikely to happen.
