True colours always show. Australians are getting sick and tired. Its like mourning Hitler says one of the local Iranian.

Mosques Across Australia Pay Tribute to Ayatollah

Public Memorials for Ayatollah Khamenei in Australia Spark Outrage

A series of public memorials and prayer sessions commemorating the death of Iran’s former leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have sparked significant controversy in Sydney and Melbourne. Several Shiite mosques and Islamic organizations have opened their doors for gatherings to honor Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in joint US and Israeli air strikes. Among the venues participating are the Masjid Arrahman in Kingsgrove, Husaineyat Sayeda Zaynab in Banksia, and the Flagbearer Foundation in Arncliffe, all located in Sydney. Additionally, the El Zahra Islamic Community Centre in Hoppers Crossing, Melbourne, organized a Majlis gathering to pay tribute to the late supreme leader.

The events have drawn sharp criticism from NSW Premier Chris Minns, various Iranian Australian community groups, and anti-regime activists. Premier Minns denounced the memorials, labeling them as “atrocious” and describing Khamenei as “evil” based on his historical role in perpetuating an oppressive regime in Iran. His ruling, which began in 1989, was marked by severe crackdowns on dissent and brutal responses to any opposition, establishing a legacy that has left many Iranians divided.

At a prayer session at Flagbearers, Sheikh Mohsen Nassar Al-Aemeli paid tribute to Khamenei, calling him a “martyr” and lamenting the loss of “people of knowledge” under the recent attacks. Similarly, the Masjid Arrahman invited its congregants to participate in three nights of prayer, emphasizing the “pure soul” of the ayatollah and the martyrs who fell during the recent conflicts involving Iran.

Critics within the Iranian community, including Nos Hosseini from the Iranian Women’s Association, expressed their outrage at witnessing public mourning for Khamenei. Hosseini described the act as “deeply insulting” and highlighted the severe human rights abuses that flourished under Khamenei’s rule, stating that he employed a harsh interpretation of Islam to justify numerous atrocities against his own people.

Australian Iranian activist Arvin, who preferred to remain unnamed due to concerns for her family still residing in Iran, shared her disbelief regarding the outpouring of support for Khamenei. “It’s like mourning for Hitler,” she remarked, questioning how anyone could sympathize with a leader responsible for countless atrocities.

The gatherings have not only ignited discourse among local communities but have also raised concerns about the implications of such demonstrations for the Iranian diaspora in Australia. As these memorials unfold, they expose deep societal divides over the legacy of Khamenei and the broader geopolitical issues surrounding Iran.

I agree with you on regime change. It's next to impossible without troops on the ground in a long, drawn-out process. This bullshit and nonsense of Trump asking the locals to take their country back is a joke, a suicide mission. He should mount up, get a rifle and march down with them to take the government over like he wanted to do in 2020.
Let's just hope the U.S. has the stomach to do just that (ground troops) or provide enough support for Israel to do that (including the agreement of other countries in the region for Israel to do that)
