Before my time but my parents loved him, he's got some very good songs.

Legendary singer, Neil Sedaka, died on Friday, Feb. 27 at the age of 86.

"Our family is devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather," his family said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "A true rock and roll legend, an inspiration to millions, but most importantly, at least to those of us who were lucky enough to know him, an incredible human being who will be deeply missed."

News of his death comes after reports first surfaced that the singer-songwriter was rushed to the hospital on Friday morning.

Sedaka first rose to fame in the 1950s and '60s, with hits such as "Oh Carol," "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" and "Next Door to an Angel," and is known as one of the original creators of the "Brill Building" sound, a sub-genre of pop music.

During this time, he and his partner, Howard Greenfield, also wrote hit songs for other artists, including "Stupid Cupid" and "Where the Boys Are" for Connie Francis, and "Love Will Keep Us Together," for Captain & Tennille.

Throughout his six-decade career, Sedaka received five Grammy Award nominations, had number one hits on the Billboard charts and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983. He also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978.

I feel so fortunate that I enjoyed so many incredible musicians, like Neil Sedaka, in my life. What a voice too.

Sorry that his passing had to bring me to remember his beautiful music.

This is one song whose chorus just makes me feel sooooo happy.

Neil Sedaka's song "Oh Carol" is about his high school sweetheart Carole King. She responded by writing a song called "Oh Neil"

Wow
I wonder how he responded to that and copyright violations?
She is still around it seems.
Will she show up at the funeral?

I had long assumed that Neil Sedaka was gay, but apparently that's just a rumour and speculation. I've heard mention of '... his partner Howard Greenfield...', and just naturally connected the dots.

Was Neil Sedaka Gay? The Truth Behind Decades of Rumors About the Pop Legend

Perhaps it was his mannerisms, or because he looked a lot like Jim Nabors:

Saw him and his two burly, very tough and masculine looking sons on a talk show decades ago. Jim Nabors resemblance noted. But from the looks of his sons, you wouldn't want to hint that Neil Sedaka was gay. Not in front of them anyway.

from wikipedia: Sedaka married Leba Strassberg in 1962. The couple had a daughter and a son.

Yes. I was having my doubts when I googled it. I do seem to remember him on with some guy who was his son. However,......Maybe it was Jim Nabors I saw on the talk show.
