Unrivaled is about to fold.

This is pure unadulterated bull shit. The league expanded by adding two teams for 2026. Not only that, over 21000 attended an Unrivaled basketball match in Philadelphia, the highest for any women's professional sport.
Please stop getting your information from the sewer of sports coverage!! You should do better

I don't give in to propaganda but I'm willing to concede that Unrivaled may last longer than the WNBA. I don't believe that Paige Beuckers is full lesbian. She doing it to avoid getting abused, Caitlin Clark will probably wear goggles this season. Either that or lose an eye.

Jim Morrison sang about CC, she's the dusky jewel. Michael Che is Da Man.

NBA is getting shit. Baseball rules are changing and ruining the game, NFL same, F1 same.
To make matters even worse .... the teams that aren't tanking are resting their star players ... in order to have them fresh for April and the playoffs!
The NBA execs call it "load management".
It all results in an inferior product!

May David Zaslav get small pox. The worst event to happen to Warner Bros was Ted Turner stricken with dementia.

Both Inside the NBA at ESPN and skinny Chuck is totally off pudding.

Skinny Chuck is respected not because he's off pudding, he has no time for bs. His assessment of a team's chances is brutally honest without the slightest hint of fakery.

Team Canada Basketball can avenge the Hockey Nationals - but only if Zach Edey is in the lineup. For Paris, he was going into his rookie season. He played summer league to reduce his chances of being sent to the G League.

If Ja Morant goes to Miami he'll destroy himself.

The WNBA and the WNBA Players Association reached a verbal agreement on a new CBA.
It will be the richest contract in women's sports made possible by Caitlin Clark. Highlights:

1. The minimum salary will be $300,000. Up from $65,000 in 2025
2. The average salary will be $600,000. Up from $125000 in 2025
3. The maximum salary will be $1.4 million. Up from $225,000 in 2025
4. Charter flights everywhere
5. Housing made available to all players
6. Players will receive 20%of revenue, which means salaries will increase as more money comes in.

Doesn't matter, they are still going after CC's eyes during the season.

He was so lovely, he's so missed.

Caitlin Clark made $76,535 as the number one pick in 2024. The number one pick this year will make $500,000.
Under the old CBA, CC was due to make $80,000 this year. Under the new CBA, she will make close to $600,000.
So this is what failure of the WNBA looks like 😂 😂 😂

I'm concerned that a disproportionate percentage of League revenue will be coming from Expansion Franchise entry fees. The WNBA had twelve teams in 2024, and is scheduled to have 18 by 2030. Is the talent pool big enough to add 50% to the number of players in six seasons? This sort of rapid expansion has not gone well historically in Men's team sports.

I also wonder if Toronto will support a team which could potentially be bottom-feeders for multiple years. The one or two annual Caitlin Clark games might not sell out if ticket resellers are charging Taylor Swift concert prices. How many would attend a game against another expansion team is anyone's guess.

You've heard of the 2025 expansion team Golden State Valkyrie? They sold out all 22 home games at over 18000 a clip and made the playoffs.
They didnt select the best, popular or high scoring players available. The players they selected were based on hustle and unselfishness. And they had a tenacious coach plucked from the ACES
They held opponents to the lowest scoring average (76.3 PPG) and highest field goal percentage resistance (40.5% in opponents' shooting).
That is how they defeated top rated ACES, LIBERTY and STORM during the season
So an expansion team doesn't have to be a bad team

Toronto has the largest market in the CFL, and the lowest attendance, (less than half of Winnipeg). With so many other entertainment options, there's no guarantee that the crowds will show up for a fringe sport, and let's be realistic - WNBA is a fringe sport. Perhaps attendance might be good initially, but is there sustainability in this market?

Arena Football didn't last long here. I saw one game because they were giving away free tickets at a blood donor clinic. I was sitting around the midfield stripe in the first few rows of the upper deck. Part way through the first quarter, an usher came to our section, and told everyone to move down to empty seats in the lower bowl. They wanted the TV audience to have the false impression that the arena was full. The Phantoms were gone after two seasons.

I vaguely remember a team named The Toronto Shooting Stars. I don't remember the sport, but it might have been Roller Skate Hockey, or indoor soccer. I just remember that The New VR had broadcasting rights. I can't even find a mention of the team on the Internet.

Time will tell if Toronto wants a permanent WNBA franchise, or whether the team will have relocated before the scheduled expansion ends in 2030.

I could see ticket giveaways being a marketing strategy early on, but the fans who shell out real money for good seats likely won't do that for long if the person sitting next to them got in for a Harvey's coupon and a canned food donation to a food bank.
