Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., prompted calls for his resignation from Democrats and a major Islamic civil rights group after suggesting in a social media post that he'd choose dogs over Muslims.

"If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one."

He was responding to a post by a pro-Palestinian activist who said that dogs shouldn't be indoor pets, who later clarified she was making a joke about dog owners not cleaning up after their pets on New York City's snow-lined streets. Many muslims believe dogs should not be pets.

Fine doubled down saying "We will not be shamed into being conquered like the Europeans."

It's not just a Muslim thing. Maybe it's a Muslim majority country thing...

My ex-wife's cousin married a guy whose parents were religious Persian Jews who left Iran at the time of the Iranian revolution.

Many Canadian-born Jews love dogs as household pets, but this guy and his parents felt they were outside animals only.

Nonetheless his wife cajoled her husband into getting a dog, as her family had one all their life while she was growing up.

When we were still married, we would sometimes go over to my wife's cousin's house for Shabbat dinner.

The dog loved me, and would jump up on my lap and start licking my face.

The look of disgust on the Persian parents' face was unmistakeable, but they were too polite to actually say anything.

My wife's cousin later told me that was the issue.

Ultra-orthodox and Hasidic Jews also have a similar aversion to dogs as household pets for various reasons, although there are no explicit prohibitions against owning dogs in Jewish law..

The title could just as well have said Republican congressman. Maybe it's not as attention grabbing as much to demonize one's religion than one's political leaning.

As well, Driller, why did you say Jew congressman instead of Jewish congressman?

Of course she did Groggy, that's why she was censured by congress and apologized. Frank had/has so many handles. He was groggy, Flubadub, Screetch, Cyrus etc.
