Don't you hate when people you admire disappoint you?! Of all people to be hanging around with Steve Banon and Jeffrey Epstein, it is incomprehensible that Chomsky would be one of them. And he gave advice to Epstein about how to handle bad press concerning sex with minors. He must of really liked being with the rich and powerful, being flown around the world and given first class treatment. Still, he did good work educating us about "Manufactured Consent". Perhaps we should just appreciate the younger Chomsky and live with the cynicism that we are all vulnerable to corruption. An uglier possibility is that he was the "controlled opposition" all along.
And then there is Michael Cohen whose redemption I really took to heart. A fixer for Trump whose naked ambition led him to do nasty things using "lawfare", who reached an ethical limit and turned on Trump. I was a fan of his podcast. Over the last year he seemed to present only legitimate criticism of Trump and became less scathing. Then there was the claim he knew nothing about the Epstein business and asserted that while Trump likes younger women, he has never been a pedophile. Out of the blue for reasons I do not know he corroborated Trump's daily aspirin regimen. The Meidas Touch Network recently broke ties with Cohen when it was revealed that he is trying to seek a pardon from Trump. It also emerged that he helped Trump intimidate a woman who accused Trump of a violent rape when she was a teenager. So maybe his name is going to come up in the Epstein files for that and other disgusting actions that society is unlikely to forgive him for. And so he sees no future for himself being a "good guy" and future politician, wants to get a pardon so he can go back to practicing law. Self-preservation "Trumped" his ethics. So much for my daydream about redemption, anyone with good morals is unlikely to be in Trump's orbit for long to begin with.
