Seen the commercials on US channels for years, so happy when one opened near me. Received an email for their newest "Hot Italian" sub for $8.95, sounded fair

Got there, only a couple of customers, went up made my order, first impression was clean but funny smell in the air, just kind of funky

Ordered the sub, went to pay, guy says $12,75 plus tax, I said hold on, my email says $8.95, oh that's only if you pay with American money (like wTF!!!!), this place is in Canada, Hello???

Waited at least 10 mins for the sub and it wasn't busy, sub comes I sit down, first notice it was 10 in long but not cut in half, isn't that kind of standard?, it was a bit awkward to eat

As I ate I noticed the same funky smell from the sub which I realized was just a regular italian with all the meat heated up really hot, I had presumed hot was spicey

I finished it, albeit a little nervous, it didn't taste that great, I was completely underwhelmed, NEVER go back again, experience gets 3/10 at best! You have been warned!

That's too bad you had a bad experience. I'm curious which location you went too? I've been to JM twice and loved my sandwiches. Ive veen to the North York and downtown location and my subs were cut in half, the meat didn't haveant funky smell and tasted great.

I guess its a case of YMMY....:ROFLMAO:

If I ever buy a sub (like anyone cares 😂), it’s always a cold cut. I’m not really into hot sandwiches—except for a veal sandwich, and that has to be from somewhere like California Sandwiches.

Next time, try the Jersey Shore Special, Mike’s Way. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I like Firehouse subs.

I find their bread a lot better tasting and with a better texture as compared to Subway.

I usually order a turkey regular size sub, toasted with white cheese. Can't finish a large one.

They have good brownies too.

Have to say I haven't tried other sub shops though...

I totally agree !! I didn’t like jersey mikes at all

If you guys are ever in Scarborough this is my favourite sub spot

Good Subs, amazing prices and it’s a local mom and pop shop 😊

I would say their hot subs is better than firehouse subs but unfortunately they only got one location 💕

I agree, if I had to choose a sub, it's a hot sub, ya gotta go to Firehouse sub.

My oldest son got me introduced to JM in December. The Super sub done Mike's Way added with their cherry pepper relish. The giant size sliced into 4 last me two meals. Got the app now and collecting points. If your not familiar with Mike's way worth a try. Oh and the service was really good from my experience.
I find it a downgrade going back to Mr. Sub or Subway now.

For a hot sandwich I stumble across a mom and pop shop at Steeles and Middleton. SumiLicious Smoked Meat &Deli. The guy there makes from his unique process and spices a Montreal Smoke Meat Sandwich. Find it a downgrade to go back to normal Montreal Smoked meat at a restaurant or deli

Thanks for sharing your find. I will totally give it a try.

I also noticed the difference going from JM to Subway or Mr. Sub. There are more JM coming our way. Where I live, JM is not convenient. Hope that will change soon. Now you got me craving smoked meat:).

I still find Mr. Sub is my favourite, followed closely by Subway.

Subway is the absolute worst, like Blaze Pizza it closed in Woodbridge.

I had a No.4 at JM, Provolone, Prosciuttini and Cappecolo. It's across from the Cineplex Colossus. I enjoyed it, no complaints here.

Btw I told Portnoy that the Blaze Pizza at Vaughan Mills closed down, even without competition. He gave a smirk.

I've had Jersey Mike's a few times now. Always the same location in Heartland Town Centre (Mississauga). I much prefer it to Firehouse. Now I haven't tried the Hot Italian but the ones I have tried - Chipotle Steak, Philly Cheese Steak, Original Italian and the Jersey Shore and they have all been very good to excellent. This is how I'd rank the chains

Jersey Mikes>Firehouse>Mr. Sub>Subway. I'm pretty much done with Subway the last time I was there I got turkey guacamole with bacon and it was $20 for the footlong. The sub was decent tasting but not worth close to that price.

Blaze closed down in Mississauga as well. It was nothing special.

Is it just me or does anybody else agree that all these vegetables shouldn't be on a submarine??

When I order a sub I just want meat, cheese, and maybe a few sliced tomatoes or so. But not all these disgusting vegetables, like olives, lettuce, onions...etc. Ewww....disgusting!!! 🤢 🤮

I've been to the Union station location a couple times and thought it was pretty good.

My only issue is that they don't have a meatball sub!
