Michael Shannon and David Corenswet are both tall men at 6'4". In the upcoming Mr. Irrelevant they could not cast Calee Spaeney (5'2'), talented though she is, it would look odd. Isabel May is 5'9" and massively talented. 1883 with its epic sweep is better than Yellowstone. Ms May is the emotional heart of the show, to say she's outstanding is an understatement. Her acting is emphatic, she's just getting started.

She's mainly done TV series till now. She's only done 5 films, the only one I know is Run,Hide, Fight. A controversial film since her character Zoe Hull doesn't exactly fit the "girl boss" trope.


1883 is not bingeable, it's too intense. I have tremendous respect for couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.

On line misogynists have made cache by attacking the "girl boss" trope. When I mention Elsa Dutton, they are left stammering and confused. Finished watching 1883, as a limited series it stands with Chernobyl and I Claudius.

I started on 1923 and couldn't watch it. Aside from a few good performances, most was garbage.
Is 1883 better? I put Chernobyl up there with the best of the best so that's high praise...

You jumped ahead Opie, you should start with 1883 then go to 1923. 1883 is epic and tragic at the same time. Real life couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are the original Duttons, the charismatic Isabel May is their daughter. They join a wagon train going from Texas to Oregon guided by Rangers Sam Elliot and Lamonica Garrett. Billy Bob Thronton and Graham Green have strong cameos. What ever you do, don't try to binge it, it's an intense slow burn.

Lighting Yellow Hair...with snot running down her nose.

Blame the lack of access to all streaming services at the time.
(Harrison Ford can never be a bad guy... just wasn't a good casting choice. Although he's a great curmudgeon in Shrinking!)

There is a gap in Isabel May chronology after 1883. I'm assuming Ms May was going to college at the time.
