In a place far, far away

Ottawa gives Canada Post a $1.01-billion loan amid ongoing financial struggles

This after a whopping wages increase was given.

Don’t attend university become a postal worker and make north of $125K, receive medical and dental benefits which are considered to be the best in the country and a pension better than politicians.

I used to know a girl in high school smart but...a bit lazy, procrastinator , focused on Jesus.
Went to college for a semester.. then end up in Canada Post.
Later in life another guy told me about her ( hey remember this person from high school moments?) well it turned out her mother worked there.
Some have it easy.

🎼A ranting we will go, a ranting we will go, hi ho the merry go, a ranting we will go.😃

Sure why not, here’s mine.

Never understood these “reverse qualification” jobs where being relatively unskilled and unmotivated but willing to do some mindless mundane repetitive tasks qualifies a person for a lifetime of plum salary and benefits.

We live in a competitive rat race imposed upon us and manipulated by the governments and financiers of the world. Resistance is futile. (I love that line it’s so honest😂) The powers that be want the sheep up on their horses galloping at full speed earning, producing, and contributing to the empires they have created. Fine with me it is what it is. I am barely a drop in the bucket and have no power and never will to combat our Overlords. The opportunity to successfully oppose the “sheep and shepherds” ideology passed probably 5000 years ago. Less if you’re a “glass half full type”.

Anyways what puzzles me is these same antagonists pick and choose a few sub par producers within their empires to be OVERPAID for the contribution they make to said empires. Makes no fucking sense to me while I’m up on my horse whipping the shit out of it trying to win a race with no finish line. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The average front line worker doesn't make over $100K...
I believe the workers who got in there way back got the best deals.

AI Overview

Grandfathered pay scales at Canada Post generally refer to employees hired before specific dates (such as February 1, 2013, for certain urban operations) who retain higher wage rates, different pay grids, or specific benefits compared to employees hired after those dates
. These protections often apply to seniority, pension eligibility, and hourly wages, particularly for those taken-on-strength prior to July 4, 1994, or, in more recent agreements, those hired before 2013.
Key details regarding "grandfathered" status and pay at Canada Post include:
  • Pre-2013 Hiring (Urban Operations): Employees hired into the bargaining unit before Feb 1, 2013, are often on a higher wage scale compared to those hired after. For example, 2022/2023 rates showed "Group 1" (pre-2013) members, such as Mail Handlers and Postal Clerks, with different starting and top-out rates than newer hires.
  • Pre-1994 "Grandfathered" Status: Employees hired prior to July 4, 1994, retain special employment and pension eligibility status (grandfathered protection), often relating to their assigned work week and, in some cases, 30+ hours of work per week.
  • Pension Grandfathering: The Canada Post Corporation Registered Pension Plan covers employees employed as of September 30, 2000, who were already contributors under the Public Service Superannuation Act.
  • Wage Structure Impacts: While grandfathered employees may have higher hourly rates, they are still subject to new collective agreement wage increases, such as the 6.5% increase in 2024 and 3% in 2025 agreed to in tentative 2025/2026 agreements.
  • Relief Letter Carrier (RLC) Adjustments: If an employee promoted to RLC is placed incorrectly on a lower wage grid step (e.g., year 2 instead of year 3), they are entitled to adjustments, but moving back to a route holder position may cause them to drop back on the wage grid based on their seniority.
Disclaimer: Pay rates and seniority rules are subject to the specific, evolving collective agreements between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

Yeah I seen people lift 15 - 25 lbs constantly all day and make minimum wage of $36K with no bonus and still have better education than the Canada Post. Still taking the city bus.
Then again it is a " mindless mundane repetitive " job and some of these clown sleep around to get promoted.

Karma sucks.

So I was wondering....do you ever have a thought that you don't feel compelled to turn into a post? :ROFLMAO:
I've been wondering where this guy came from. It says he joined in 2001, but his proliferation of threads is recent. Either that or I had him on ignore he whole time.

Very interesting observation! That's a quarter century of pooning. Impressive. But ya, maybe he spent the last 24 years thinking of things to say and now he's saying them all at once. 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:

I finally got mail on Friday, along with a notice to clear my walkway from the mail carrier.
I been getting all the flyers and packages delivered by minimum-wage earners.
Entitled.

As in all big companies and organizations it’s not what you know it’s who you know to get in. As for the mental mentality of the Canadian letter carrier about 8 months ago I phoned Canada Post I do not want adverts mail left in my mailbox. Every Thursday you get a shift load of adverts and on the following Monday guess what exactly the same package. I complained to Canada Post and they said they will stop and also advised me to put something on the mailbox stating that only addressed mail is to be delivered well I did that it worked for 5 months may be a bit more, and were back to square one again. What I am doing now I have complained to Canada Post I have also provided them with the picture of my mailbox stating that only addressed mail to be delivered! Well the letter carrier thinks he’s smart I keep on getting someone else’s mail and the adverts as well. What I am doing is collecting all the adverts and then maybe in the out 2 months time I throw them in the letterbox, as for the incorrect mail don’t ask me how that happens my house number is 1 and I get every number in between 1 and 50 all on different streets. What I would like to do with those letters is throw them in the snow bank in front of these houses, and let the occupant complained to Canada Post. So tell me what should I do? Another thought crossed my mind but that is too diabolical to mention here!
