I can see your point but the bigger issue is the way they set them up to ding you for almost nothing. Also you have zero ability to contest it. We said you owe a fine and there is nothing for discussion. Pay or else. It's just a tax tool to take advantage of the masses.
Do you have any reference for anyone getting a ticket for less than 10km/h over the limit?
Having said that, speeding is speeding. The only difference is that the price per km/h over the limit increases.
And you can contest it. Right there on the ticket you get. Easy to do. You just reply online with the ticket number and make your case. But if you want the opportunity to get in front of a JP and hope the cop doesn't show up or other things then, yeah, they've cut that bullshit out.
I don't see why you are so upset with summary justice for a speeding ticket based on photo evidence when you are all for depriving a presumed innocent person of their liberty while the case works its way through the system.
And you can avoid ALL of the speeding taxes by NOT SPEEDING. Simple.
