I'm with you on this franky...If DoFo gonna remove them speed cameras...IMO they should issue refund to all the fines they charged through those cameras.

I can see your point but the bigger issue is the way they set them up to ding you for almost nothing. Also you have zero ability to contest it. We said you owe a fine and there is nothing for discussion. Pay or else. It's just a tax tool to take advantage of the masses.It's a purely voluntary tax grab on careless drivers.

If you are not paying attention enough to your driving to see the signs and slow down to the speed limit for the next ten seconds... then you EARNED the right to pay the tax on careless stupidity while exercising the privilege of operating a 2-3 tonne machine at over the posted speed limit. And in areas that have been designated (by data), as dangerous or otherwise trouble spots.
I got a Red Light ticket a few years ago. Clear intersection at Dixon and Carlingview,, sunny Sunday morning with no traffic, cyclists or pedestrians. Was a bit late for brunch so decided to speed up for the amber instead of slowing down. Turned red while I was accelerating. Too late to slam on the brakes.
Busted! $350+ IIRC.
I don't run ambers any more. Not even where I know there are no red light cameras. So, while some folks don't learn, I did and so do others.
Keep 'em in place and slow the fuck down. 10km/h means you save mere 3-4 seconds between stop signs.lights, intersections, traffic.
Funny how all these righties who whine about how unfair these tickets are, also feel that warrantless searches etc are fine 'if you got nothing to hide' etc.

Really intelligent contribution to the thread my friend.....So if my car is going 70 and a machine designed to rip people off says I was going faster, my desire to right that wrong makes me some how less or not masculine at all. That makes a lot of sense.
